The rake thingy is good for weeding between flowers, when the garden is full. The rake thingy also helps to airate the soil so, when it rains, more moisture can get to the roots.

The spade thingy is good for planting, like tulip bulbs and such.

Sometimes it's whatever you're comfortable with when it comes to price matching! If you have enough stores close by it's worth the effort not to price match and you find the little deals in each store! WTG! You got quite a bit for very little $!
