STOLEN Gift Card Balances - HELP !!!

I used to be super disappointed that I didn't have enough money to participate in the GC promo. Now I'm glad. I think in the future, even if I do have enough money, I won't participate unless I plan to use the GC within a day or two.

That's exactly what I told to my DH. I gave out some cards as gifts (not only Esso). Now I'm thinking what if there was a zero balance there. How embarrassing...

The PIN is useless anyway, I checked my Tim Horton GC balance and they didn't even ask for the PIN #. Same with SDM and other companies. And I agreed with tjthemanto, someone may think you're cheap and hating you for giving a zero balance GC eventhough it's not your fault.

That's awful! It certainly will make me more cautious when buying GC in the future.

That's apparently what happened with me. Ijust didn't use this card until now. The balance was stolen back in November, a couple of days after I bought the card.

The last time the crook(s) stole my GCs balance 2 days after I purchased the GCs...so really it's not safe at all.

Update: received a message today that I'll receive an aeroplan card with 8500 bpts which is redeemable at Esso as $50. Wow! This was fast.

And so it continues... this time..with a PIN..not scratched...but cards show use in the last few days...and i have zero balances... :'(

PIN means nothing, your don't even need PIN when you call in to check balance. That's why I didn't buy any GCs this year. BTW, is it gas gift card?

Sorry this has happened to you guys..I'm glad you're getting your money back..I was thinking about participating in the metro buy $50 gc get 100 air miles, I wanted to buy $200 worth, now I'm thinking it's not worth it..
