Easter long weekend - what's open?what's closed?

Grocery stores are closed on Friday and Sunday in Ontario.
Banks are closed too -- any body know the dates?
Post office is closed Friday and Sunday?

In tourist designated areas, are the stores open on Sunday?

Somebody can correct me if it has changed since, but I used to live in the Niagara region and I know a lot more businesses would stay open in the Falls during major holidays. Maybe more border cities would have businesses open to keep the option open for American shoppers to come over? I don't celebrate the Christian holidays and respect that businesses close for their employees to spend time with their families, but also find it to be a bummer to have a day off and can't even go shopping! lol

WINNIPEG – Long weekend! But what is there to do? Besides the traditional Easter egg hunts and ham dinners at home, that is.


Many businesses and public offices will be closed for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and some will remain closed Monday.


Schools, leisure centres (except for frozen pipe rescource centres), Polo Park, St. Vital Centre, Kildonan Place, Grant Park Shopping Centre, Portage Place, liquor stores and government offices will be closed Friday.

The malls will also be closed on Sunday.



But don’t forget to put the garbage out if your regular collection day is Friday – trash and recycling will be picked up on the normal schedule.


Winnipeg Transit will operate on a holiday/Sunday schedule on Friday.


Leisure centres and municipal offices in Winnipeg will also be closed on Monday.


Canada Post won’t deliver or collect mail on Friday and Monday.

I think that Niagara is classified as a tourist region. So they can open when others are closed

Canada One Outlet mall in Niagara Falls is open 10 am-6pm on Friday and Sunday.

Banks are under federal law, so if a stat holiday is a weekday, that day is a bank holiday. If stat holiday is on a Sunday, the next day is a bank holiday.
