If you want to park your money in GIC or Savings account try Peoples Trust , they have the best interest rates . Their TFSA rate is 3 % ..most banks are around 1.3 %.

Banks like Tangerine & PC Financial have become a joke now with their low interest rates.
They are insured by CDIC - Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation - so your money is safe & insured. They have been around for 25 years , so its not some mom & pop organisation.

They also issue Mastercard & Visa.

They also give you a secured Mastercard if you want to build your credit history. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

After their screw up with the personal information not being encrypted I will stay miles away from this company.
Thinking of opening an ING account use this number 35728975S1 and both of us get a $50!! dollar bonus.

When I was looking last year - the best rate was Canadian Western Direct. Unfortunately almost everyone charges for you to move your TSFA accounts - so I guess I will have to stay with them at 2.25%
It is not even worth my while to switch to Tangerine because they don't know if that TFSA account will have a higher interest that 1.3 after July

3% is quite good these days. How is the user experience?
As emg said, if they had a data breach, that may be a red .
I believe Canadian Direct Financial has the next highest rate at 2.25% (They are owned by Canadian Western)http://www.seekingwealth.ca - Personal Finance Advice | Career & Success Tips | Tax Tips - for Canadians

I have had accounts with peoples for many years, no issues. yes, there was a breach about 6 months ago. it did not bother me that much, I am very aware of all my accounts and credit scores.
I am happy to be getting 3%on my TFSA accounts. Just transferred my Tangerine accounts to Peoples--TWICE the interest. The fruit bank has let me down so I am getting rid of most of my accounts with them.
