I think the time has finally come that the cell phone plans can do what I want.

I am presently paying $26.27 + $10 (bundle discount I will lose when I take the phone off) for my home phone and $22.40 for the emergency cell phone

Does anyone know if there is a cell phone provider who offers a plan with unlimited local calls (I don't text and don't know if I would be tempted to do so) in the West?

I use Skype for long distance @ $3.00/ month

The problem I have always seen is that if I go to a cell phone - then there would only be ONE phone. I would like to have the option of having a couple (more for convenience sake than anything else). We don't talk a lot on the phone but most family are long distance.

    All suggestions are gratefully received

    Thank you so much

Vancouver island.... I would be looking at Telus for best coverage, especially if you travel to small towns. A cheap provider with poor coverage is useless to me if I'm not in the city.

My prepaid Telus phone is $10 a month for emergencies. Then again, that appears to have changed for new customers when I go digging at their website.

The key thing about emergency phones is keeping them charged.

Have you researched VOIP options for a phone?

Thank you xlxo - a friend mentioned I should contact the Telus loyalty dept (we have our internet and home phone with them) and see what they will offer
