Other than last winter's ice storm (I was staying with my Mom, trying to sell my Dad's car when a tree fell on it, sigh), nothing much. I'm in an area that is on higher ground, but there's a flood plain across the street (site of the PanAm athlete's village) - the city/province spent the last 6 years building a berm to make sure it never floods (didn't flood last summer when we had that crazy storm that dumped a ton of rain on us - we had more than double what Calgary got in less than 2 hrs, sheesh).

The closest I came to a hurricane was when I went to Florida 2 days after hurricane Andrew hit. Between the lost luggage, the curfew the city was under, and being encouraged to leave the hotel so the insurance adjusters could have our room, it was interesting. We drove down to the local Red Cross and gave them a donation - the least we could do.
