Today I gave the new IKEA catalogue a good look through and noticed the IKEA Family program. When you sign up/register, you are given a link by e-mail or right there on the screen the opportunity to print a quick pass to use in the store.
The pass has to be scanned in-store at the Ikea Family kiosk to get the card. As there is a contest (monthly draw for $100 Ikea gc) running until December 2014, every store kiosk scan of the Family card or swipe of card at purchase enters the member into that month's contest.
Perks of the program:
Free tea or coffee for members in store restaurants from Monday to Friday
Member pricing on selected Ikea items
Extension of return warranty to 90 days
Special offers and inspirational ideas by e-mail
Since the contest started last year, I apologize if this post duplicates an existing one on the Ikea Family program.
Noticed no textile yardage in the catalogue; some whimsical rugs (the button motif is great and non-slip!), a lamp (could not find name/price for it), the PS 2014 side table with lighting, a corner desk plus a couple of side tables and some kitchen accessories have my attention. Clever introduction to the catalogue: focus on bedrooms and bathrooms as those rooms bookend each of our days. This thread is currently associated with: IKEALast edited by Ciel; Sun, Aug 17th, 2014 at 10:11 PM.

The IKEA that is local to me was one of the first to have the family program, so I guess it seems they're rolling it out to the other stores now. I would suggest that people sign up for this. Even if you go once a year. The longer return by date is worth it on its own (still doesn't apply to as-is, naturally). Some of the family deals are really good while other deals are minimal savings but still potentially worth it. Bought a large umbrella for $2 with my family card.
They must have changed the free coffee or tea perk because when I signed up it was any day of the week. Also, not sure if its still a perk, but family members get extra time in the kids centre (which I cannot spell the name of so I hope you know what I mean lol)

I did see mention of the kids centre in the Family benefits list.

Thanks for pointing out that the extended coverage is not applicable to as-is items!2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Ikea sent me a short survey link by e-mail. The survey is about ordering online to pick up at store closest to me. Survey expires on Aug. 15. Can't believe it's been 4 months since I lasted visited the Burlington store.

For August, there are three decor fabrics by the metre on sale for Family (Burlington, ON) members! One is pink striped, another is red/white check (perfect for picnics/patio tables) and the third is a floral print.
Oh, the Swedish apple cake is the sweet deal that also got my attention.

How many times a year does the average person shop at IKEA? Not considering the special breakfast and meatball lunch (for those that like that sort of thing)

One or two times per year for me. I have not gone to IKEA just for a meal special-there is usually something that I plan to get on my visit as it takes times to get there by public transit.
Whitby ON will have an IKEA pickup site opening soon.
