I don't know if this is a suitable thread, but I have a worrisome question.
Yesterday I drove my car 150 km, mostly on highway 401, with the
shift lever in what I believe was the overdrive position. I knew immediately
that the engine was revving too high, but I didn't clue in that the lever
was on the wrong drive position. The tachometer averaged at 5,000-6,000
rpm during the highway drive, which I now know was way too high.
I am worried that I did permanent damage to my engine. I went through
the owner's manual, but this issue is not addressed. My car is 15 months
old and has 9,000 km. I don't want to call my dealer and ask, because I'm
sure they'll note this and possibly invalidate my warranty.
The tachometer never reached the red position, but I would still like to
know if I damaged the engine. Any ideas? This thread is currently associated with: 123inkcartridges.ca

I did a little research on your issue. This is interesting. You may want to read it, as it seems similar to what you did. I am sure this info will ease your mind.

Thank you very much. I read through it all, and although I went faster, for longer, and the engine revved higher,
I think I'm okay. There were no warning lights and since then I have had no issues. I will have the engine and oil checked soon.
That really did ease my mind.
