Yes, I saw the article in the Toronto Star. Cash fares and token fares are going up but the TTC monthly pass prices are to be frozen. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2...sit-fares.html
In 2016, the TTC’s decision will leave the cost of a montly Metropass at $141.50; while a single cash fare will go up to $3.25 and tokens up to $2.90.
About half of TTC riders pay using passes, 27 per cent use tokens and only about 10 per cent pay cash. But Metropass sales are declining, said a staff report to the board.

Think TTC is still the only major transit authority that has transfers for one-way travel only in the Golden Horsehoe area. I made a point on the Metrolinx survey that all GTHA transit providers should have a 2h time limit on transfers (make it consistent) and to allow on-off travel in any direction or back. I make sure to maximize my Hamilton Street Railway transfers during the 2h!
Here's the survey link from GO Transit and chance to win $75 transit voucher: http://study.malatest.com/prod/cwx.c...=2015_MTO_FARE
Interesting link from the Metrolinx Twitter account about how there are gaps in intercity transit options:
