@cally , forgot to mention seniors told us about this compost party.
From Florida.
They met some senior Snow Birds (at the gym), who were on their way back to Canada. In time for the compost party.
So the seniors used their free long distance phone card to make sure we were in on the
compost party freebie.
Who needs the internet when you have seniors with a long distance phone card.
Seniors rule!

My family used to own a business and we had a 1-800 number that we gave out to certain customers, etc. And my mother would fly down to Dunedin each winter to watch the Blue Jays in the Grapefruit League for spring training and my mother would call EVERYDAY to the business to ask me how things are going? She called SO much and than she asked me if I missed her? I said: How can I miss you if you NEVER go away! Lol! She got the point. The funny part is that she used to complain to me how her mother (my grandma) use to use our 1-800 all the time when she (my grandma) was away! Lol.

Just a caution, I used free compost dirt from the city and a few months later, weeds appeared. It's loaded with composted weed & seeds.

I think we got good dirt. The Region of Durham explains on their website, how they make the compost and use methods to filter out weed seeds and other matter.

I asked some of the veterans who have been getting this compost there for the last few years. Between shovelfuls, we had some good conversations and laughs. They are happy with their past dirt, their present dirt and will be back for future dirt parties.

yard work yesterday, putting down the free mulch
mowed yesterday too
free exercise
Scott's Turf Builder down today since it is raining and rain from above is free (Turf Builder from Walmart?/Target? free or nearly free)
rain expected midweek so will add grass seed to as separate area* that is looking sad, and mix in the free compost
(*no fertilizer + seeding in the same area at the same time)
