Too many Terms & Conditions for my liking. Plus you can't waive the fee with a minimum balance . Plus you HAVE to keep the account open for a long time.

Not worth the time, energy, and hassle for me . I will pass on this RBC promo

TD Bank - Samsung Galaxy Promo is more simple, will wait for that instead.

CIBC $ 300 promo is also more simple.

We are thinking about doing cibc $300 promo. I think if anyone who has $3000 sitting somewhere in their tfsa etc, they should take this miney and put it in this new cibc account. $300 in one year for $3000 min balance is like 10% return on investment. However, we can get a max of 2% on any savings account. (Not talking about mutual funds investments).

Based on what I read in Gail Vaz-Oxlade's book, one should not have their banking account at the same bank that one has a credit card with. Else, a cc balance could be paid out of your account if balance is carried on for the card as the balance is a callable loan per the bank (which can pay the balance from your account without notice).
Mini iPad is a tempting incentive but be a Smart Canuck and keep the cc and banking account at separate places.

Both you and your spouse can open 2 separate SINGLE accounts and each will get the promo, if you want.

Do NOT open Joint accounts if each one wants the promo.

You can close the accounts or keep them open after the promo. I closed my TD account after I got my Samsung Tablet. Around 3 months for the entire process. Kept the minimum balace also for 3 months, so no fees for me.

make sure you cancel all the Direct deposit or pre authorised debit, before closing the account.

Both you and your husband can open 2 separate Single accounts and each will get $ 300. Do not open 2 Joint accounts, if you are going that route or each won't get it.
