Wow, that first article made me really cry. I admit there are days where I yell and I always feel guilty after. I have had to apologize many times to my kids for over reacting (because on the days I handle things poorly it's because of what's going on in my life that I am grumpy or irritable).

I love when I handle things well cause it makes me feel like I am amazeballs! Like a real "grown up" instead of an emotional maniac

I have just in the past few days discovered that the 1-2-3 thing is a miracle (like when you say, "I'm going to count to three and if you don't get up to the bath you're going in your room"). The first time my daughter thought I was just angrily counting and joined in lol, so I had to carry her upstairs (it felt horrible) but since then she has really listened a lot better when I start counting. Although one thing I have realized with this, is to make my negative reinforcement something realistic as there are times when they really want to push the limits and rebel just to see if you'll stick to your guns. So I am careful not to say something like, "I'm going to count to three and if you don't go upstairs to the bathroom you're going to bed". Cause I wouldn't be able to realistically adhere to that if it's only 5:30pm.

*sigh* now if only the 1-2-3 thing worked on 12-19 year olds.....

    1) Flint
    2) Tarp
    3) Netting (fishing)
    4) Pot
    5) Sunblock

Eddie Vedder, his guitar, tequila, deodorant (gotta smell good for eddie), and clean underwear

Seriously though? Hmmm... matches/lighter, a warm sweater, a really good book (something I don't mind reading over and over again), a flare gun, and bottled water. I had to think about that one!
