Hi everyone,
I have really bad back pain from a recent illness and was told by my doctor to get some massage therapy. Where's the best place in Ottawa? Where's the most affordable? I would really appreciate some recommendations for offices with Registered Massage therapists as I don't want to make it worse.
Thanks! This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I like Carleton's Sports Therapists as they are the only one I have used in the Greenbelt.

I know a great massage therapist at ottawa intergrative health (it's carling/holland area. It's $75.00 an hour (which is pretty much the going rate)...she is registered, so you get are receipt for benefits or taxes. www.oihc.ca

I've been pleased with Jockvale Massage Therapy on Greenbank road (in the Sobeys plaza). A few years ago I went to the registered therapist at York Street Spa which was great as well. I think the going rate for registered therapists is pretty much the same where ever you go unless you find someone in training.

You can go to Kine-Concepts on Bank near Walkley - It is a teaching clinic for students in their final preceptorship and they are under supervision of an experienced therapist. They were VERY good and you can get deep tissue, relaxation etc... to choose from. It was $35.00 for a full hour. I was not at all disappointed.

My name is Diana and I am a local RMT in the Ottawa area. Your usual prices range from $70 to $120 per hour at any local Clinic you visit here in Ottawa. There are also some of us who strictly make house calls, like myself. I charge $85 plus 5% GST for a total of $89.25 (this includes the $75 fee for the treatment and a $10 travelling fee). Make sure they are Registered as they are to provide a certificate from the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario with a number on it - something like K-794...
What end of the city are you? I may be able to direct you to a local clinic if you like!

Massage therapy is excellent for relaxing muscle stress but back pain should be addressed by a Chiropractor. I use Fisher Heights Chiropractic and they have a RMT at their location, too.

I go to the downtown Y (99 Bank) The masseur's name is Chris. He is very good. If you're a member of the Y, 30 min is 40 $ (45$ if not member) and I believe it is 60$ for 1hr (70$ for non-member). They give a receipt and are registered. He studied biology and kinesiology, not just massage therapy.
