if they dont have to attempt to deliver then why do mine always check off that they attempted to deliver it LOL cause all the notices I get for parcels say they attempted to drop it off and no one was home thats what pissed me off cause I thought they had to attempt and they were just being lazy and not doing it since they always checked that off and left it in our box

Because I don't think there is any other options suitable... I don't know why Canada post doesn't let their customers know.. but I would just leave it blank when I did it. If you call and ask though or complain they will tell you that they don't have to unless it is signature required..

call the 1-800 number on canada posts website....the ladies on the other end will be able to tell you if they HAVE to deliver to your door or not. I had to do that when I just started receiving those slips too and they had always checked "no answer" sooo I called and the lady I spoke to checked and said YES they have to deliver to my door (or attempt to - and by them checking off no answer it shows that they attempted to - even if they didn't - sneaky sneaky)...so she put in a complaint to the delivery persons supervisor and the person actually claimed that they "remember" trying to call up to me (they didn't i'd actually received 3 packages within a 2 week period - and all 3 packages said "no answer" and I got no call - i'm a stay-at-home-mom who is home ALL the time) LMAO so now the guy ALWAYS calls up twice to make sure!

Its up to the mail persons descretion if you have a dog they can refuse to go up and try. I know one lady on my moms route their dog tried biting her so from now on she refuses to get out of the car so she honks and if noone comes she checks saying she tried.

LOL they should just leave it blank then if they dont have to deliver so I have been ticked at our mail man for being lazy when he didnt actually have to deliver haha they need an option for RR people saying not required to deliver or something haha
and yep my mom is a sahm too so she is always home thats why we always thought it was odd that they would be checked off that no one was home and she was all day...
some delivery truck does it too I think its fedex they dont knock they just open up the porch set the package down and leave good thing we live in the boonies

Yeah ex0ticb3lla has a mail carrier ( i know this) and they HAVE TO deliver to the door... but RSMC's don't.

my mail sucked today... A piece for the previous owners of our house, samples of enfamil for toddlers (which is great since my daughter uses this formula and I know it works with her) and 2 bills for hubby

o0o I agree I wouldn't want my mail stinking like smoke either... and there is a 1-800 # to call in and complain if you chose to... it's on Canada posts website.
I have never heard of a mail man/lady driving from door to door... that would be absolutely ridiculious and actually not allowed. They can not use their own vehicles for carrying mail unless they are an RSMC (rural suburban mail carrier) and even they can't store mail in their car over night let alone a week. I would call in to complain and mention all of the facts that have been stated and an investigation will be started.

RSMC deliver to the rural areas and yes they drive... they are not letter carriers. They also do not have to deliver a parcel to your door... only if it is signature required! If they had to stop at every house they had a parcel for they wouldn't get your mail to you until midnight LMAO...

because it is his own car for sure its not a mail truck and it doesnt have any mail stickers on it or anything like that
I just might call that 1 800 number but I doubt it will change much
I live in a neighborhood with a lot of retired people and i'm sure they have all already complained lol they expect their mail at like 9 am lol

i live on a military base, so I have to drive across the highway to the canex (convience store) to open my p.o. box and if I have a notice of something that wouldn't fit in the box (really what does fit?) i only have until 5pm mon-fri to get it. My fiance usually gets the mail after work since he has the car and works on that side of the highway. But sometimes he forgets.
