Wow! They say the workers "weren't hurt" but imagine how scared they must have been- I bet they were "hurt" emotionally by the ordeal! And when people are stealing FOOD, as you say, Carly, they must be very desparate!

I feel sorry for the family's of the people that were killed at McDonald's just a block for this Sobeys back in the early 90's.I think this robbery would remind them of that robbery that ended so tragically.Tough time in the economy doesn't need to lead to actions like this.Very Sad.

That's really scary and horrible but I didn't hear about the McDonald's story (I was a kid back then so that had to be why) but that's still awful. Thankfully, no one was hurt nor killed during this robbery.

I was just talking to my DH about this incident this morning. I wonder what kind of time off they'd be offered for enduring such an ordeal? At least back when I was working in grocery stores here in NS, about 90% of the clerks, shelf stockers, etc., were part time, no benefits.
Would they give them some time off with pay? Getting tied up by potentially armed bad guys has got to give you at least a bit of time without worrying if you'll be able to make the rent!

I was in high school and remember how scared everyone was at that time not knowing what happened. The McDonalds has since been torn down but I think of it every time I drive by the site. Here is a link on that story:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sydney_...ld%27s_Murders
