As I do agree that this issue is a frustrating one, perhaps by not submitting feedback until you receive yours seems to me to perpetuate the problem no? What if everyone felt that that no one would be submitting ratings. There are some ppl that I've traded with that haven't rated me - but I chalk it up to ppl are busy and forgot. Sometimes a friendly inquiry to see if they've gotten their envie may prompt them to remember that they haven't yet rated you. In any case - I do agree that at the very least, they should contact you and let you know that they atleast have received it. :) Just my two pennies!

I agree with you totally, to acknowledging receipt of the trade is very important. I always let people know when their envelope arrives.



I do lots of repeat trades and will usually leave FB once.

But I know we all have dealt with someone that, even though the deal is completed as negotiated, we will never trade with again. I see no need to do anything but notify them the envelope is received.

P.S.....Peachykeen2007 and I have traded and I have left FB for her (and it was a pleasure as she is a great trader).

I have to respectfully disagree.

The whole point in trading for me (aside from getting coupons) is to get feedback. There are posters on here with coupons I'm really interested in who won't trade with me because I don't have much of a rating. Right now because of my rating, I'm put on a Trade Watchlist when I trade with certain people because I don't have a rating above 15. When people don't leave feedback for me, other SC's don't see that I've probably traded successfully with over 15 people because half of them couldn't be bothered to leave feedback despite the terms of the trades. Most of the people pulling this kind of crap are people who have traded here for a long time too which makes it even more frustrating.

I can and have sent those I've traded with a friendly message.. and I've asked in this thread for advice after doing so. So far I've been told not to expect anything and it seems nothing can be done if someone flakes on giving feedback. I get people are busy but if you don't have time to acknowledge that you received a trade for more than three weeks, you shouldn't be trading. If they didn't receive their end, I'm sure I would hear about it real quick. So I don't think I'm perpetuating anything... people not leaving feedback for new users because "they are busy" (making trades with other people) is different from someone hesitating on leaving feedback first because they have been burned. Waiting weeks for someone to leave a rating, messaging them with no response then watching them make trades with other people is not cool at all. Not very friendly either. i have a question regarding a trade i did last month the 13of nov.
i wont mension the name of the SC cuz she does have a good rateing and
i dont want ppl to think she is a bad trader..

so bacially on nov. 13th we finalized our trade sent them off ..
she recieve mine which was a $5 gc i had purchaced and from her end
i was suppose to be getting $50 in coupons in reutrn ..

i waited for about 2.5 weeks then pmed her asking when she had mailed it, since i
did not recieve it ...
she said she mailed it right away .. so she was not sure why i didnt recieve it..

she had offered to return my gc.. but i felt bad cuz i did trust that
she had mailed them .. but it wasn't fair also that i didnt get anything in return ..

so i asked her so send me half of the trade .. meaning $25 worth of coupons..
that was around the 15th dec.. after which she said she will take a look @ my wl ..
but i didnt get a reply from her after that.. i thought she must be busy because of christmas.. and then after chrismas i sent her a pm asking her whats goin on ..

but still no reply..

what shoudl i do ?

Hi ishyx0x http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/images/misc/Female.gif - can you tell when she has been online last? If you look at the Public Profile and statistics, you can see last time on as well as the last posts so you can see if they've been on long enough to post etc.

The Trader Tracking list is not just for when you trade with certain traders, it is supposed to list any trade made with a trader who has a rating under 15. Some traders don't know about it or use it but it can be used by everyone, including two traders with under 15 ratings doing a trade with each other. The list was started after this trader had a ton of trades going at once while having a relatively low rating. If this list had existed sooner, the number of pending trades with this user would have been a hint something is up, and maybe some of their later trades would not have been arranged.

I hope you don't think me using the trader tracking list is an indication that I don't trust newer traders. I have nothing against newer traders and never hesitate to trade with someone with a 0 rating, and rarely ask for them to send theirs first (only large trades involving FPCs). No one ever asked me to send my side first when I was new so I don't ask either. I just use the list because a trader doing 3 or 4 trades at once is no big deal, but a newer trader with 20 trades, half of which were made more than three weeks ago, is not a good sign. There is no other way to let others know you are waiting on someone's trade since most people wouldn't post in this thread or leave a visitor message about a trade made only two or three weeks ago. Without the list that trader could still be making more trades because no one has left them a negative rating yet. It's not perfect because too few traders use it, but it's better than nothing. Of course this risk is still present with more established traders but hopefully not as high.

Personally, I believe leaving a trade rating is part of making a trade with someone, and if the trade was as I expected, then I leave a positive and hope the other person will too. I open my mail in front of my computer so I can check to make sure I got what I was expecting and I leave a rating right then.

There are some traders who just don't like to leave feedback or let you know if they've received your trade, and I just no longer trade with them. If they've ignored my last 2 PMs asking whether they've received the trade, I don't know why they would expect me to answer their PM asking to trade. I do, of course, I'm not that petty, but I decline to trade again.

I understand the importance of leaving a trade rating and for the most part people do. Sometimes I feel people forget for whatever reason but I am not going to chase people down to leave me one either.

Also a thought - a great way to increase your trade rating is to jump on a few trains. I've currently stopped riding now, but as a newbie I found them great. :)

It's nothing personally to do with you and how you use the Trader Tracking List and I'm sorry if that came across that way.. although I think that thread is generally a good idea, I see a lot of other users using it mostly who have high ratings trading with someone below a 15 rating. I regret that I haven't seen SC ers with ratings under 15 trading with each other on there but I don't doubt it hasn't happened. I think you can hear my frustration.. I've done over 15 trades with different people and some haven't left feedback. It's a shame because it doesn't reflect that I sent a trade and conducted myself in an honest manner. I'll live :lol:

I do the same thing in regards to feedback as you do.. I spent about 25 minutes opening envies today and leaving feedback for my trades (whom left feedback for me too). I think your idea (and others mentioned) of declining to trade with those who don't leave feedback is probably a good idea. Thank you and the other posters who have responded to my post in a friendly, informative way.. the system for feedback on here reminds me a bit of eBay. I've used eBay for years and it's just a given that people leave feedback. It's frustrating that some don't leave feedback but it's not a perfect system :shrug:

I've been looking at joining some trains.. I'm a little confused by some of them and there are a lot of rules. Depending on the train you join of course... some that I've looked at yesterday want a lot of coupons that I haven't even come across yet :lol: I think I'll catch on at some point :-)
