True ..maybe I am just lucky . All the mail I send or receive is On time :) ..as I use the addressing guideline :) and so do people who mail to me :)

Most people also don't follow the addressing guidelines and this includes big companies , hence the letters arrive late in lot of cases.

1. Put information such as title, floor, etc. above the street address
2. Put a hyphen between unit/suite/apt number and the street number.
3. Put the city, province and Postal Code on 1 line.
4. Put 2 spaces between the Postal Code and the province.

Return addresses

Format the return address the same way as the destination address and place it in the top left corner of the envelope or parcel OR on the back of the item at the top.

I am fully aware of the guidelines (in fact the mailroom at work will return any not addressed correctly before they put postage on them, as does the building across the street from me as the staff there complain about it all the time too).

An xpresspost envelope sent from work showed tracking in 5 cities before it made it from Toronto to Ottawa 4 days later despite a next day guarantee. CP has issues! They have also not picked up mail from boxes near my office and home as I have sent tracked mail and it showed it being picked up days later.

I find a lot of SCers put the postal code on a new line, and it gets to me just as quick (and sometimes quicker) as properly addressed mail

Not saying you are not aware of the guidelines.

you can also put the postal code on a seperate line and CP will process it the same

this is to help in instances were people are from long city names to prevent the squishing of everything onto one line,

i.e.
Joe Smith
141, route 132 Ouest
Rivière-Trois-Pistoles, QC

CP has abbreviations in place to solve the above problem.

Anyway, I think the issues that were stated earlier today were about users not responding, and not so much about CP.

I will only put the postal code on the same line if the trader writes it that way in our PM

I find it does not matter which way you write the postal code, same line or not, seems to get to the destination or to me just as always

I do find though that lately my mail has been SUPER slow, Mondays I get a bundle with 3 elastic bands around it, usually Tues-Thurs NOTHING, and Friday I get all the crap I don't want (i.e bills) - not too sure what is up but it is strange as I used to get mail everyday until I got a new mail lady

It has been my experience (and I believe I read it on the CP website though perhaps there has been a recent change to the way they sort their mail as I've never heard of the abbreviations before) but they were allowing people to put postal codes on a seperate line and it was being processed the same way- the computer recognized having it be on a seperate line the same way.

To be honest I just copied and pasted the address in my above example. I know Riviere-Trois-Pistoles was a long named town so I used it. I just copied the address of a hotel in that town to use as an example. I wouldn't normally put the "," after the 141 if I was writing it out myself on a letter but thanks for pointing it out if I came across it in the future it's good to know that this comma would be a trouble for the sorting machine :)

As K8's Fate pointed out (sorry as former near neighbours I did almost use Penetang as an example ;)) sometimes the appreviations aren't always that much... ummm... shorter.

Irregardless I really don't think the postal code being on a seperate line is THAT big a deal for CP. If there is any sort of delay it's likely in the neighbourhood of hours or maybe a day or two, not likely the source of a 2 week lag.

That's like me i never get mail on friday's or mondays, and i do mean never we kept track on the calendar and it's 4 months 2 weeks and 3 days.lol.

I have found the same thing with my mail at times. I will go two three days without mail and then all of a sudden there is 15-20 pieces in a day. I get the feeling that sometime the post office might let them add up for a couple days and then deliver a bunch at once. Maybe because it is a time saver on the route?....not really sure :shrug:

I have also noticed that there are a couple different post boxes in my area that are definitely not emptied everyday even though it says they are picked up daily at 10 am. The one at the store by me is only picked up every few days and is completely packed every time you go there...not really sure why but for one reason or another it happens. I used to just drop my mail in the red boxes (I have a scale at home so I can easily figure out postage) but since noticing that the erratic pick up times I have started to only use the post office at my SDM as I know the mail is picked up daily :)

The original point was about people not responding, but moved on to discussion of negs after just two weeks so CP issues come into that.

i thought feedback was optional. i have been away for awile & just came back to see that i have recieved 2 negatives (same conductor) & 1 neutral rating simply because i have not left feedback for the riders on the train.

this was a vwt. the conductor was aware that i had not left ratings for her last train when i joined the second. i find this to be quite unfair as my computer time was extremely limited & when i was on this site i would use my time to join trains & do some trades to get useful coupons for my family. now, who wants to trade or let someone ride? not too many people i would think as i have neg. & neutral ratings. i thought the feedback system was to inform others of bad trades, not someone not leaving feedback.

is there anyway this can be changed? no where in the forum rules does it state that feedback is manditory. infact all i found about rating vwt's is that the conductor is to rate everyone so 1 person does not get several rating for riding 1 train.
