They will take a printable over $2 but only at the managers discretion. I think they are worried about people making their own coupons for high amounts so if you are buying a lot of things and the coupon is a reasonable price (ie. $5 off a $20 item, or something like that), it should be ok.

So it seems like there's some inconsistencies at the 105st-51ave LD for "free" items when you coupon stack... even at head office.
I guess I never claimed you can get a "free item" by asking your cashier to adjust the amount of the manufacturer's coupon, but apparently that is FRAUD. LD is not supposed to adjust the price of the manufacturer's coupon to pick up the amount that's left because the aren't supposed to be making money off the company that issues them.. and no, they aren't supposed to give cashback either and take the full value of the coupon, so whatever you're left with, you're supposed to pay. I asked a supervisor to email head office about it... but stacking is still allowed. Some customer cashiers will do it for you at the above mentioned location, some won't.
So, just a warning.

thanks for the heads up. but what about adjusting price of the product 'up' to match value of coupons? i've had cashiers done that and i have no issues with it, i pay a bit more on gst but if that allows LD to recoupe full value of coupons from manufacturers legally, i am all for it!

Technically, any price changes of the actual product must be approved by head office as well. I asked the supervisor if they could change the price of the in-store coupon and he said, we can, but it has to be approved by H.O., meaning they send out a request and wait a few days to hear back and all that... so even if they "upped" the price, it should have been approved. Please Support animal shelters across North America!!!

Elf Poop...Got a question for you...Are the yellow instore coupons stackable with MFCs? I was at the Stony Plain Road/149St location yesterday they wouldn't let me stack. But some times they do and so do other stores...

I guess the stores must have received some updates to their policy just this past week. I went in with a bunch of $2 printed coupons and the lady at cs wouldn't let me use them as they were the printed ones (that someone had scanned) because they looked like photocopies. She checked a sheet that she said they had just received about coupons, but she also called a supervisor and they told her that they would be accepted because they were printed....but later when she had to ask the supervisor about a $2 coupon on a $1.99 item, the supervisor came over and saw the coupon and didn't like the quality of it...figuring it was a copy. Anyways, after much scrutinizing of the coupons and chatter about "you shouldn't be using coupons for trial sized items", I wasn't able to use the $2 coupons for the $1.99 items so I just left them there. All in all I wound up putting back about 8 items that I gave up on and said that I would use the coupons elsewhere.

I have problem using printed coupons at SDM and LD before, so I give up and not using them at all to save me all the headache. Maybe you can try using printed coupons elsewhere like Zellers.

Thanks fellow SC'ers for all the valuable info on the LD outlets. I have been shopping at the Northtown location (in Edmonton) and it's becoming frustrating. Picky isn't the word. The CS cashiers and the Manager/Supervisor are just being ridiculous almost to the point of getting rid of business. I never never shopped at LD's before coupon stacking and of course I always pick up other items that I would probably have bought at Walmart or elsewhere. I am the customer and LD's staff make me feel like they don't want the business.
I hope someone at their Head Office reads this and does something about it. In fact, I think it might not be a bad idea to send them a note stressing how obnoxious some of the staff are (and be able to provide names). We shouldn't have to be driving all over the city just to get decent service. Don't you think?
That's my rant for the day!! I feel better now.

I live 5 minutes from LD at North Town but i have never been brave enough to coupon stack. And this goes to show is it really worth all the hassle?? I mean yeah if it's a smooth transaction of course it's worth it but if you get a bad apple for get it i don't think it's worth the money saved risking the chance of not saving at all and just walking away from the til. Although i'll be there more now that T & T is opening. Who knows...
