We have no big grocery stores in my little town but I do shop in Port aux Basques, which is 1/2 hour away from me. All they have here is Colman's and Foodland. I am planning on biweekly or monthly trips to Corner Brook to stock up on non-perishables and meats. They have more store and larger selections. And their fresh produce is 110% better than PAB!! At least we will have good fresh food every two weeks or so. Corner Brook is one and a half hours drive but the money I would save from prices would pay for my gas and then some. Plus, they have Walmart (we don't) so I can stock up on household items too!

Wow, sometimes I take for granted how spread out Newfoundland is from St.John's and Mount Pearl. I have a friend (the op) who lives in a small isolated town. I think it would be hard not to live in St.John's now but I do love the communities. The small family close knit-ness of them ^^ Plus, I really want chickens and a backyard in town doesn't do suffice for them.

Hi, pcousins.. nice to meet you. i'm really excited about all the great deals! i'm somewhat new to the couponing thing, i have used them in the past but really started to pick it up a notch when the gas took a big jump. if only our pay cheques got bigger! lol.. I didn't do to bad yesterday @ ct. Took my DH with me we both had two tide each @ 4.59 @ a lysol soap system @ 9.98.. we had b2 tide get 5 off @ a coupon 5 off the lysol soap.. we also had a ct tear coupon, hoping we each get 5 off our purchase.. my DH got the M&M.. oh well! this total was 11.55. I managed to get 5 off my purchased! so my total was 6.55!! 4 tide @ 2 lysol soap was a grand total 18.10 we also have mail in -rebate for the soap. so it's totally free! my shopping weeks vary, some weeks are better than others, can't seem to find the coupons around mt. pearl..I'm thinking i might have to go coupon hunting during my lunch( east end st. john's)!! I still have alot to learn, the many ticks of the trade so to speak.. I gota say, couponing is fun!!

Welcome everyone!! Although I'm not on the Island (I'm in GTA) I'm a Newfie at heart and always will be I miss home sooo much.. esp since ALL my family is in the St.John's area. I 'm inching to get home for a holiday.. but I'm preggo & can't travel 2 much. We're really hoping to get home in march for my dad's 65th b-day.
Any luck on geting coupons in the St.John's area. Locally here.. I find Metro and Sobeys have more coupons then other's.. plus trading is always good!
Can't wait to hear more about the going on's esp deals in NF!!

Nice to meet you too! You got some great deals! I am really enjoying couponing too. Saving money is great but, for some reason, I am having more fun getting the coupons and hunting down the deals! I even bought myself a cute coupon bag from etsy! I find that I can find some deals around the PAb area, but my biweekly trips to Corner Brook is whst saved me money. Even with the extra gas cost I come out with extra money in my pocket...AND I get to use a ton of coupons!!

Hi oceanblue,, nice to meet you! congrad's on the upcoming birth of your child,, you must be super excited! hope you make it home for your dad's b-day.. being so far away from home much be hard at times... i don't have much luck in the mount pearl area finding coupons. Think i might try price choppers & coleman's.. we don't have metro here,, too bad sounds like a good place to find coupons & great deals! maybe i'll try trading soon,, hopefully we don't have to deal with a mail strike.

Roxanne- Metro (here) = Dominion (Newfoundland)
Trading is good. Start of slow. It's sort of an honour system. let me know if u have any questions.
Ya we r excited for Baby #2.. just a bit nervous how will DS react w/ another child in the house. But u just have take one day @ a time.
Can't wait to hear more from everyone!
Miss home sooo much! I would love to be home.. but it would be a HUGE move. I've been 10 yrs w/ a company and we have a house and friends here BUT family is family and we have sooo much family in the St.John's area. It would be amazing for me to say "I'm going to Mom's for supper tonight!"
