don;t feel bad for trying to help someone. Maybe there is another explaination? Maybe she got another crib... either way karma comes around and goes around. If she did all that just to play you and get a free crib its really pathetic.

So I mentioned I sent the girl an email and even tried to call her (left her a message) and she never called back :-( Figured she was busy....well I was going through craigslist/kijiji to sell a change table and saw someone with the crib I sold that girl- I WAS SHOCKED and actually got nervous....I was thinking there is NOWAY that the pregnant girl would turn around and re-sell it. So I wrote the seller enquiring about the crib- NO RESPONSE (my email address was visible of course). I enquired again- NO RESPONSE. So I asked my husband to enquire and he got a response back right away? The girl was selling the SAME CRIB for $200 NEW IN BOX! Of course this can't possibly be the same girl right? I got my husband to say he wanted it and asked for her phone number...and SADLY IT WAS HER :-( I got played...BIG TIME....I lost a $400+ CRIB and also the $75 I GAVE HER (which the kind man in my building gave me!!) I am really really upset about this...I have been really disappointed the whole day.....but I guess its gone and there isn't anything I can do....pretty sad that someone, who is pregnant, played me and the kind man in my condo that tried to help her. Makes me really sick to my stomach....Kindness doesn't always pay off I guess....

What goes around, comes around...this really sucks but you did a nice thing and I truly think that that counts for something

Please try to not feel upset over this, it's out of your control and you know you did a kind thing regardless of that girl's actions. A number of things could call for this such as her finding a cheaper crib and wanting to sell that one for more money for her baby. In that way you did her an even bigger favour by providing another source of income.

I've heard of people doing things like this before on CL (but not with such big items before), it's tacky and even though she "owns" the crib after you gave it to her it wasn't meant to be re sold. There is a baby fair coming up in Vancouver and I bet you anything the very next day people will be re selling all the free samples they got for the day on CL...classy huh?!

I think you had done such a great thing and I can't imagine how you are feeling about what has happened to you. Remember you did a good thing and so did the man whom paid for the crib and we can't all be perfect I suppose.

That's really crappy But don't doubt for a minute that kindness doesn't pay off. Unfortunately there are people in this world that will take advantage of anyone they can, but your good deeds don't go unrecognized by something/someone higher I assure you. Still, crappy, yes indeed. *sighs* It's people like that who manage to ruin the kindness of strangers for others. Sad really. But also as coupon queen said, maybe something happened and she desperately needed money more than a crib at the moment. Who knows really. But I totally understand why you feel the way you do, I'd imagine I'd feel the same.

So sorry someone would do this to someone so kind. You have no reason to feel sad....you did one of the most amazing things a person could do...and are more generous than most! Celebrate your awesomeness and forget her greed.
