Welcome to the first ever Smart Canucks Cute Kids Contest 2009

In previous years when the Cute Baby Contest was held members with kids who aren't babies anymore were disappointed that they couldn't enter. This is why this year we're having a Cute Kids contest too. We'll see how it goes and if it's successful we'll have it every year too, otherwise it will be a one time thing. Your kids must be older than 2 years. If they are younger than 2 please enter them into the Cute Baby Contest and no here.

• Submissions open from now until Wednesday September 30th, 2009.
• Voting Starts October 1st and ends Monday October 5th, 2009.

What is the Smart Canucks Cute Kids Contest?

Get your cameras ready! Our first Cute Kids Contest is here for parents with kids who aren;t babies anymore. ALL pics need to be current and taken by YOU. Pictures taken by a photographer are not allowed.

All members of SmartCanucks will then vote for the cute kids and the top 20 winners will all win gift cards!

We can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

There will be 20 prizes in total The gift cards will be from a well known retailer like Loblaws, Shoppers Drug Mart, Metro, etc. We will allow the winners to list their top 5 gift card preferences.

How to join the contest

First of all you need to take your cute kids picture. You have a lot of time to come up with a good picture so don't rush it. No professional (photographer) pictures will be accepted and will be deleted without notice.

Be creative! The picture can be funny or cute or in a certain interesting setting.

Story: Last year around November, Inara and I were sitting in the food court at the mall, waiting to meet up with a friend. At the other end of the food court was a little girl with a new, totally decked out, Build A Bear. Inara's eyes were glued to the bear for about 10 minutes. Then the family left and they walked past us. Inara looked at me and said "Bear. Peease Mommy?". So we jumped up, ran into toys r us and bought a bear. I told the story a lot in the following weeks and Inara got a serious haul of bears for Christmas last year. This one seems to be her favorite.

Story: I guess the cutest thing about Liam getting his Nintendo for his birthday was that as soon as the wrapping paper was slightly ripped away from the gift, he recognized the Nintendo logo and immediately started screaming loudly TENDO DS TENDO DS. Name of the image: Hello, I am Ariel - the mermaid in shorts and top
Relationship to image: No, this is not my ocean as you have imagined, unfortunately. Due to the global warming as well as the economic recession (yes, we are all affected by those events regardless of ordinary person or princess under the sea), I have no choice to move into a smaller shelter - that is a pool in front of the Place-des-Arts in Montreal. I also have to barter my mermaid dress for some coupons to buy modern clothings at the Bay to keep up with the human fashion. However, you may see that I really miss my mermaid outfit that I decide to choose a shorts and a top that are so tight that my beautiful belly can still be admired by some human princes, I hope.

Story: Oh well, you may already know the happy ending of my love story with Prince Eric. After getting married, I followed my husband to the land and live a human life there. Being a young girl, you know, I soon became a shopaholic. Everything is so attractive to me and I want to buy all I see. However, despite the fact that Eric is a prince, he could not afford all my shopping needs. I have to find ways to help myself. Then I found out an amazing forum called Smartcanucks where I could learn a lot of tips to smart-shop, using coupons, scopping, getting free or almost free stuffs, etc. Thus I decided to move to Montreal in Canada where I can practice those fantastic shopping tips. I chose Montreal because this city is bilingual, meaning that both English and French coupons could be used here without any problem.

This picture shows my happy moment after a full day of shopping around Montreal downtown. If you look carefully, under the water is a lot of loonies and toonies that are my saving results after all price-matching, catching sales, couponing, etc. You cannot see Eric here, because he remains at our far-away castle. But do not worry about him, I send him updated report of my shopping brags here every 2 days and also visit him every week with my big hauls of smart shopping. Now he is even more happy than ever, since he is busy playing WII FIT that is also what I got free from my bonus redemption at Shopper Drug Mart. He even asked me for some coupons so that he could use them himself there.
