Winter Storm Watch
Issued at 10:53 Friday 04 March 2016
SummaryA significant low pressure system will approach Newfoundland on Saturday. Heavy snow and strong winds will begin along the Island's South Coast on Saturday morning and spread across the remainder of Newfoundland during the day. Current indications suggest heaviest snowfall totals will likely occur over central and southwestern parts of Newfoundland, where total accumulations in excess of 30 cm are possible by Sunday. In addition, strong winds will combine with the fresh snow to produce poor visibilities in blowing snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/ Winter storm watches
