On Twitter some GTA school boards were getting requests for snow days last night. Some boards made a point to link to policies regarding snow days or just said wait for the next morning.
Since today was a wetter day regarding the snow and its melting. roasted chestnuts were on the pm agenda.
I used the chestnut pan-it's like an aluminum pie plate with holes and a long handle. I did roast chestnuts for about
10min then put them into a toaster pan with the remaining chestnuts to roast in the toaster oven. While using the pan on the gas burner, I noticed the centre of the pan go yellow then darker. A couple of fibres from the inner skins glowed like orange lit cigarette tobacco. I had inverted a round mesh strainer to cover the pan just in case any x on the chestnuts was not enough to release steam. Found out later I should have used a low to medium high gas flame-I was more on the medium-high side of things and only shake about every 2 minutes. We enjoyed eating the chestnuts regardless.
A roof rake would have been very helpful in getting the curling snow off the roof edges. One side is half empty due to Ms. Sunshine's warm rays but the other side has a serious curl to its snow edge. Not keen to find it on the ground in the morning, frozen to the back walk.
it was a much easier drive in to work this morning. just a dusting of more snow on the way today.
Today
Increasing cloudiness. 40 percent chance of flurries late this morning and this afternoon. Wind southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40. High zero.
Bit warmer yesterday so that was nice.
-17, windchill -26
And that's the high for the day, going to be windy. -33 windchill overnight.
Mostly cloudy and temps holding steady at -2.
Good morning!
Today: Cloudy this morning with isolated flurries. Lake-effect snow squalls possible this afternoon. High -2.
Tonight: Windy with blowing snow and localized squalls. Low -11. (10-15 cms locally in squalls)
My fleece gloves are feeling the edge of their windchill/temp limit-it's like -9C today. Overnight it will feel like -22C.
The road shoulder had a mix of mushy salted snow and packed wet snow on the way to Walmart-my winter boots hit their ideal winter snow situation and the heels were super grippy!
This should help clothing stores selling coats sell off their remaining stock. The business section of the paper indicated this was the third winter in a row with late start to cold temperatures-some retailers are carrying less outerwear as result of past two years.
Happyness again a little more snow today, -3 for the high.
I'm spending Christmas in ONT :) Its going to be cold tonight with a -20 windchill. I hope the snow is piling up in NFLD so that its perfect for snowmobiling by the time I return :)
Absolutely HORRID winds today, how awful - and it doesn't look like we get any relief soon.

It is very cold here tonight. I'm thankful for a brand new furnace.
