The IGA across the street from me did the same kind of thing sometime this past year. They used to have 50% off stickers on meat getting close to expiry or sometimes on meat that was just packaged that day but maybe they just had too much of it and wanted to move it quick.
Now it's just the occasional 25% off sticker and not too many of them. I wonder if it has to do with increased sales. Therefore they wouldn't have to clear out so much stuff.

The same thing here. No more 50% off neither meat nor fish.

i noticed this too at rcss in the last month or so! i'm SO annoyed by this! i'd always go early in the morning on a weekday and buy like crazy to stock up my freezer...dh and i are on a low carb diet so our diet consists of mostly meat and veggies so this would save us SO much money. not only that but my 21 yr old bother lives with us as well and man, can he eat!
gah, i'm so mad over this! i've not getting my meat nearly as cheap anymore

I have found that Sobey's is still doing the cheap meat at 50% off, but they have started to use the 30% off more then they used to.

Zerhs in barrie did this as well. i never bought anything at regular price. always the 50 percent off. now its only 30! and i am angry because its still the same meat that used to be 50 off! its not like the 30 perc off is any better quality????
they did it because they are greedy little porkers. they saw people saving money and had to cut into it somehow. its incorrigible!if at first you don't succeed, do it the way your wife told you...

Look what I got for 1/2 price tonight! Lamb loin chops at the IGA across the street, where I said I hadn't seen any 50% off meat for a long time. I guess it was a little early Christmas present. If it weren't for this we were just going to have leftovers but I was really craving some good red meat and was almost ready to pay for some full priced beef tenderloin.
Each pack of three decent size lamb chops ended up costing about $2.50! I also got a nice 630 gm. lamb loin roast for 50% off. It cost me $7.29. So, keep the faith and just keep checking those meat counters and you might luck out.

Funny, i was in Atlantic Superstore last night and saw a bunch of meats marked with the 30% off stickers. I was in a hurry and didn't buy any. It didn't even register until just now when I read this, that it's usually 50% off!
