I'm looking for a really great double breastpump, does anyone have any suggestions on which brand is the best? A cheaper one would be ideal, but quality is more important, thanks!

I had the Medela manual hand pump. It was great and easy to clean but if I had my time back, I would have gone for the electric. After a while the manual pump gets hard on your hand, wrist and patience.

I didn't pump a lot, but I had an Avent Isis pump. Sorry it's not a double pump, but I really found it was a great product. You pumped right into the bottles, you could freeze the milk right in there with a lid, then add the nipple when you're ready to serve it.

It was manual, but I didn't find it hard on the hands. I didn't have to pump and pump it with my hand constantly. I pumped a few times and got it going, the vacuum in it would keep the milk going for a few minutes, then I'd pump it a few times again. Wasn't hard at all for me to fill a bottle, but I had a good supply.

I used my SDM points to pay for it, definitely a plus!

Good luck! I know none of this breastfeeding thing is easy, at least not in the beginning. But trust me, it generally does get easier.

medela electric...all the way!! I used the hospital double pump for 6 month and loved it. However I would have been just as happy with the medela swing single pump. It really makes a big dif how often you are going to be using it on how much you want to spend.

I know purchasing one is generally the better idea, but sometimes hospitals will rent out their breast pumps. I'm not sure on pricing or anything, but it may be something worth looking into.

Oh, and I used the Avent Isis hand pump as well. It was easy to use, but unlike Zonny I did not have a good supply, so I had to pump a lot.

Get a Medela PISA. Its $300 ish but it'll pay for itself in a few months. Great double electric. For a manual I reccomend the avent isis. It works great for a manual.

Ameda Purely Yours Double Electric!! You can get it for around $200. It's great. The hospital lactation consultant recommended to me. I was very happy with it. Milk does not go through the machine or tubing, which is a plus if you want to sell it or even buy one used.

Medela manual hand pump, Most definately. I went through 3 First Years electric pumps, they are horrible, milk get sucked up into the motor, But luckily i had only bought 1 and they replace it the other 2 times, without any hassles. Then after the last one, i was sick and tired and really pissed off so i switched to manual and a different brand and couldn't be happier, only wish i would had started with the Medela brand first.

    +1

I have this pump and it's very easy to use and works great We got ours for about $250 which includes all parts for the 2 pumps, 6 bottles, a cooler pack, and the travel bag. Well worth the money IMO. For another $50 you could get the attachable manual pump and the car adapter. But the pump we have has the option to run on batteries as well so the car adapter wasn't really necessary, just pop in some batteries if you're planning on going on a road trip.

The first years brand is great....with the exception of their breast pumps, I had the same problem as you, we had to keep returning that thing every 2 months.

I loved mine too. With my first, I just expressed by hand, then I tried this one with my second. When the whole BPA came around, I did return it to Zellers and got my money back. I just bought it again for my 3rd!! Got it on sale at Zellers (and my sis used her SPC card!)- paid like $47 before taxes for it!

That's the one I used as well (medela), and it was great. At one point I did rent the double from the hospital, it is really, really good, but gets expensive to rent, but it's quicker because of the double pump.

i used the advent isis manual and i did like it alot but if your supply isnt good it does get to be alot of work after a while. if i was going to bf again i would definitly invest in one of the higher end double electric pumps, i really wish i would have gone that way to begin with!
