The their/there/they're etc. type of mistake drives me crazy since it hinders communication, as does really bad grammar. The issue is more about trying to get a point across clearly - that's why we're on message boards. And, quite frankly, I agree that some people make so little effort it is hard to understand what they are saying.

Spelling/typos is less of an issue communicating, since most of the time your brain can sort it out while hardly noticing. But at the same time, that's the easy mistake to fix.

One of my friends uses her facebook status to regularly post grammar and spelling rules.... Screamy, maybe your signature space could be used for mini lessons, as a service to the public?

So people like me who make grammar mistakes should not be on message boards because we can't get our point across clearly?? I would like to think that everyone is welcome on SC bad grammar or not.Some people talk that way and that is just life!!! I like other try our best and still do make mistakes and feel these comments are insulting. Sorry but this topic really makes me mad and I felt I had to voice my thoughts.

I would suggest you try and not be so judgemental...seriously...you have no idea what others are going thru.... Folks who English is a second language or who have learning disabilities or just aren't great spellers!!

In my case I am a great spellerbut due to a back injury I ca
t sit at a computer anymore. So my only way to post is on my iPod laying down. I frequently hit wrong keys as I peck away with one finger and it frequently auto-corrects my words wrong too. But who cares!! As long as my point is understandable it's fine

I think you need to realize others have struggles that you don't and chill out....I'd hate to think I'm notwelcome to post here because of spelling errors or using texting lingo to save pecks...

There are days when I sincerely wish that the spell check tool was automatically run before a post was allowed to be made....and that the super-blatant stuff got corrected.

Of course, I am also known as "the SPG" (Spelling and Grammar Gestapo) at work.

Also, I have never been able to embrace the "it's all small stuff" mantra (really??!? LOL)...I try to remind myself that there are much, MUCH worse things in life than misspelled words....today, I am doing that but it is not helping my aggravation level much.

On a message board however I just let the errors slide because really, who am I to judge other people's spelling and grammar? Lets be reasonable people!

i as well , and i agree, sometimes such as at work, or school, spelling counts. i mean as if, as long as the point gets across, what is next, going to complain about twitter spelling, and txt message spelling, if you don't like it, don't read the post hehe
