I need some parents to commiserate with me!!
I live in Yellowknife (NWT). You pretty much have to fly to get out of here. Driving is like a 16hr adventure just to get to Edmonton. We went to see our parents last christmas and it was a bloody disaster, so this year I did things a bit differently. Only it didn't matter! It was still awful. On our way we got stuck in Calgary. We were late leaving Edmonton which meant we missed our connection in Calgary, so we had to overnight there. A royal mess, but could be worse. And we were 2 parents traveling with 3 kids.
On the way home, I was traveling alone with the 3mth old and the 3year old. Not 15min into our 10hr journey home, the 3yr old starts throwing up. She has never been sick on a plane before. She had come down the with stomach bug that was going around my parents place! She proceed to throw up for 4 hours! It was awful. She looked ghastly. Ever dealth with a barfing kid in an airplane. Totally not on my bucket list! They don't even have decent supplies to clean up (no towels, wet naps). I have no idea how they will ever get her seat clean. The baby didn't sleep (because she was constantly being disturbed while I dealt with the sick one!) Did I mention the stroller broke as we left security? So I had to drag her threw 3 airports in a broken stroller while I put the baby in a snuggli. I also had way too much carry-on! At one airport, the elevator was broken so I had to lug everything and everyone down the stairs. The same airport, the wheelchair bathroom was out of order, and I would have had to go across the airport to use the other one. So I had to change the kids in the corner of the bathroom (cause we couldn't all fit in a regular stall!) It was overall completely awful and seriously took years off my life. Sigh, it's a good thing my family is worth seeing at christmas! This thread is currently associated with: N/A

OMG, nightmare. I would have broken down crying like a baby myself.
