I've been to Canada numerous times and have enjoyed every visit, but nothing compares to the Canadian Rockies. I think they are even more spectacular than the American Rockies. For scenery and wildlife, would suggest an itinerary such as the one I took back in 1995: four national parks along the Alberta/British Columbia provincial line: Banff, Jasper, Kootenay and Yoho. It doesn't get much better than that!

I've travelled from one end to the other, and take every back road possible! So it really depends on how deep into the areas you wanna go! There are some AMAZING places here for sure! I live on the westest of the "wetcoast". So between places like Tofino's beaches, Cape Scott's awe inspiring beauty, the coastal mountains, places like Nelson, Grande Forks, travelling the highway between Jasper and Banff, Manitoba's great hidden little lakes, Ontario in the fall, and all the way over to Nova Scotia's raw energy of the sea and amazing history. If you are staying in one area for a spell, get a "Backroads Mapbook" available at most gas stations and outdoor stores. It is my travel bible for sure!

I live on Vancouver Island too..and it has everything within driving distance:
The rugged West Coast, beautiful old growth forests; white sand beaches; unpolluted lakes to swim and boat in; a couple ski mountains to ski or snowboard on; small Aboriginal towns full of culture and history, and large cities full of shopping and attractions..and everything quaint inbetween, from seaside communities to rural farmlands.
I love it here, it is my favorite place to live.
