ExpiredI REALLY need some help with this!
Our daughter would like a DSLR camera for her birthday NEXT weekend and I don't know anything about them. ALSO, we aren't rich and can't afford to spend a lot so the most inexpensive the better.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to go, what to look for and approximately how much?
I'm desperate for help so any ideas or comments are appreciated. This thread is currently associated with: N/AAlways interested in trading!

I have no advise except you really do get what you pay for...I have the Nikon D80 and it was over $1000.00...my gf bought the Nikon D5000 and it is very cheaply made, extremely light but it was only around $550.00...If you have a camera specialty store you can sometimes get traded in cameras that are next to new with a warranty for about 30% cheaper, sometimes up to 50% cheaper...good luck, they are definately worth the money though.

DSLR's can be expensive. I know Dell has a deal on a Canon one from time to time.. I think it was $549.

Entry level your looking at at least 500$
Best bet is one is on sale and comes with a bundle of another lens etc....
I have an olympus and love it.

I've been trying to get a DSLR with my swagbucks for the longest time, there was a used one on amazon.ca for about $550, then I learned it was a used one and it sold out, so now I am looking at $899 for that same camera. So I started collecting amazon.com instead, the prices are better.
DSLR's are professional cameras, they are expensive for sure, you can get a digital camera nowadays for pretty cheap.

For a 10.1 -12 megapixel canon you're looking between $550-$800 minimum. I know Wal-Mart has the Rebel Xs in stock sometimes for about $550.
Not sure where in Ontario you are but Henry's has a clearance location downtown Toronto. If you're too far from there try a location near you, they'll often take trades and they really know their stuff.

Henry's - $579

Personally I'd stick with a Nikon or a Canon. They have a huge selection of lenses and you daughter can continue to grow within the brand.
good luck
