Wow, great stories!
Wow, great stories!
I went to No Frills on Friday to catch some quick (coupon-free) deals, and the cashier gave me a hard time, "What, no coupons today?"...that's a small town for ya!
ok this happened today:
cashier: i don't have time to enter each item then the coupons. So I'll ring everything in then do the coupons
me: ok, the last time i was here i was asked to separate the coupons and the items
cashier: well, i'm busy today
me: ok, no problem. Whatever works for you. Thank you.
after some uncomfortable silence...
cashier: ok, i can't go any further because you have to pay something.
and she handed me back some coupons
I looked at the screen and saw $1.40 (total before coupons was ~$125)
me: ok, no problem. I understand I have to pay tax too.
I smiled and gave her a toonie. She handed me $0.60. I took my bags and left. Almost running to my car :)
Lovin' the thread !!

(spend $250 get a $25gc)
I go to the till with my ususal ginormous stack o coupons...
Cashier: "wow! You must like games alot!"
**as I load 12 games on the belt**
Me: "nah...I like getting them for free!"
(as I hand her 12 coupons for $10 off boardgames)
Cashier: "well...if you don't like games why buy them?"
Me: "To insulate my house."
**cue stupid look on cashiers face**
Cashier: "Really?"
Me: "Yes." (no emotion on my face)
**uneasy silence for the rest of the transaction**
Sometimes I love messing with people!
I've now got a stock of Birthday gifts, and my total bill was originally $278 but after coupons was $88. Gotta love it!
This thread is too funny. My story is really a thumbs up for the cashier, but a thumbs down for the person waiting in line after me...(there should be a thread for "the people waiting in line" experiences.
Went to a Zellers (not my regular Zellers) after work to PM and pick-up a few clearance and sale priced items. It was late in the evening and the store was pretty much empty, so only just a few cashiers. Had all my coupons in hand and flyer for the PM items. The cashier was great, but I think she was pretty new. Unfortunately the clearance items and the advertised sale priced items were not ringing in correctly, so she had to manually override the prices. When she entered the SPC discount, it registered twice, so she had to void the items and then start over again. I can see the "lady" behind me starting to give me that "look" (you know what I mean, I am sure that most of us have had the pleasure), but I just ignored her. The cashier apologized to ME, for taking so much time. Well, the "lady" behind me heard this and she began turning a shade of red  that I have never seen before.
The sale was rung in, SPC deducted and then the coupons  . I was loving every moment of it! At this point I swear I could see steam coming out of the "lady's" ears! She was mumbling something and was being rather rude not only to the cashier ringing in the sale, but also a second cashier that opened another till. To add fuel to the fire, I asked the cashier to ring in one of the items on a second bill for a MIR. At this point I thought that the volcano next to me was about to erupt...more mumbling...I really wanted to say something, but bit my tongue. I thanked the cashier and then turned around and wished the "lady" behind me a very pleasant evening....her expression was was priceless, something like this . My expression  after my bill went from almost 90.00 to 40.00!
Sometimes saying nothing is better than saying something!
First of all... awesome brag!! :top:
And here's my question to missbobloblaw:
To my undestanding you have to spend $250 to get $25 GC. After your coupons the total is less than $250 and you still get the GC?? If this is true then it is great. I've learned something new :)
I am loving this thread! Very amusing and informative. Here is my experiencefrom a week ago: I usually go to walmart and do my grocery shopping around 9 pm on saturday evening. (It is very quiet then, and I find no one gets irritated when I take forever in the check out line. Unfortunately,I had to go to the grocery store with my 2 year old. (Not a good idea). So I had to go earlier, so that I didn't interfere with his bedtime. He decided to cry through the entire store. So I gave him his juice, he didn't want it, I gave him a cookie, he didn't want it. Needless to say it wasn't a good experience. As a result the looks started pretty soon into my shopping experience. I didn't have a choice this time I had to press on. I am new at this so it took more time than I wanted it to take and AJ was in no mood to cooperate. I finally got to the Cash register and had everything organized, sales flyers with grouped items to PM from each particular store, cps on top of each item. I even stood back and made sure that there was no one else that would be lining up before I got in line. So I get into line and spotted the mini M&M's. I got AJ out of the cart and gave him the M&m's (amazingly the crying stopped) and started the process of pointing out items in the sales ads to the cashier. I hand't been in line for 1 minute before everyone else in the store decided to check out all at once!!!! It turned out the lady at the cash had never done PM's and wasn't very familiar with coupons either. Within 2 minutes the line behind me had about 8 people in it. But AJ was being good, just eating his M&M's and circling my cart. Thankfully the cash lady was patient, and I was patient with her while she was learning. I slowly started to notcie all the people behind me were getting angry and started changing lines, all but the people directly behind me. Fianally after about 20 minutes everything was price matched coupons were rung in and it was time for me to pay. I paid $150 for over $400 dollars worth of groceries. The Cash lady was stunned. She actaully thanked me for coming to her line. she said "I will never forget how to do this now, I just got the best crash course in PMing and coupons ever!" I smiled and thanked her fro being patient with me. But there was still the people right behind me who refused to go to a different line. After we finished I stepping to the side to put AJ's coat on him and try to wipe some of the sticky mess that was all over his face and hands and I noticed the lady who was behind me walking straight to me!!! NOt sure what was going to happen next she said to me "Do you know how refreshing it is to see a young mother so intent on saving money? Props to you!" I just smiled and told her that with a family of 5 it was the only way to make things work and that it is was irresponsible of me not to save money if I had the opportunity to." She then said "no seriously, I would stand in line behind you any day to see that again, to many people your age are just irresponsible with money and the spend it like there is no tomorrow. I am seriously impressed." I just smiled and thanked her for her kind words and for being patient with me, and home we went feeling like I had conquered the world.
Just so everyone knows, I am really not that young, I am pushing 35. but to the older lady behind me you would have thought I was 20
