I'm pretty sure all Canadian banks use Davis and Henderson for their cheques...I don't believe you can buy cheques that are not through a bank because there are certain numbers on the cheques that identify what bank the cheque is from (each bank has it's own bank of Canada #), what branch it's from and your account # info on it. Think of it as a serial #.
If you go online to TD Easy Web and look up their chequing accounts you can compare your current chequing account service plan to the others they offer...you might find some savings there if you have other products with them as win-star said their "select service account plan" has free personalized cheques however if you don't maintain a balance of $5k in the account they will charge you $24.95/month for that plan. So if you don't maintain $5k it might be worth paying $30 for cheques rather than $25/month on a service plan.
You can call Easyline anytime or stop by your branch I'm sure one of the employees would be happy to help you find a suitable plan or help you decide the best solution for you.
Here are the select service plan features (you get additional discounts on other products like Visa & TD Waterhouse brokerage account, and many other "free" services that usually carry a charge ie travelers checks (no commision), passbook record keeping , no fee for drafts or certified chqs, etc:

But there's a lot more upside to this account..... $5000 sitting in a savings account yielding 1.2% (ING) generates $60 in interest. Of that, let's say 1/3 is lost through tax. So you would only 'lose' $40 in interest by letting the $5K sit in this account. With that, you gain a whole lot (the big one being the waived $120 fee on the First Class infinite visa, with its free trip cancellation/interruption insurance), amongst other things as pointed out in the previous post.

I've been using asapcheques.com for a few years now. Excellent service, fast delivery, very good prices (blows Scotiabank out of the water).

If you have a line of credit with TD you get free cheques on the line of credit account.
I write cheques on the line of credit and move money over from savings when the cheques clear.

Seconded. I received my cheques really quickly, and have used them for over a year with no problems. I bank with TD, and before ordering, I confirmed with my family's financial advisor that they honour these cheques.
I think I paid less for 200 cheques with ASAP than I would have for 20-25 cheques from TD.

If you have VISA card that you do not use, or use very very seldom, and it is all paid out, you can order VISA cheques for free.
However, let say you want to write your cheque for 500$.
You must make sure that:
1 you do not have any balance on your VISA
2 you prepay that 500$ in advance 1 or 2 days
3 you do not use your VISA card until the cheque cashes
If you fail the above steps, you will pay 29% interest on the cheque that you have written.
If you follow the above, you will pay 0% interest, and cheques for free.
The formula of VISA cheques that are treated as cash withdrawal from VISA is like this: Fees and Interest = Ballance x the interest rate.
So if you prepay the ammount you written the cheque for beforehand and your VISA actually will be over paid the formula will be as follows: Fees and Interest = Ballance x the interest rate = 0 x the interest rate = 0.
Good luck.

In Canada the standard cheque supplier has been Davis & Henderson for years, as they are very integrated into the banks. However like any product you as a consume do have a choice.
A great alternative is Print and Cheques Now they match D&H pricing but also offer customer either 25 or 50% more cheques for free on all orders. We use them for our company laser cheques, and i use them personal for my own cheques.
Might be worth taking a look.

You are not required to buy from the Banks... most printers can print cheques for you, but not all of them use the same high level of security features to help reduce cheque fraud. Of the thousand of printers across canada only 3 of them manufacture cheques and use the hologram gold foil that is on Davis & Henderson cheques. A supplier worth looking at that does use the hologram gold foil is Print and Cheques Now Inc. They even offer Airmiles, and guarantee to reduce your cheque costs. Davis and Henderson certainly has the majority of the cheque market cornered as they have partnerships with virtually every bank in canada. But if you want to save money they are not who you should order from.

I used to use PC Financial but got tired of having no tellers to deal with.. So we switched all of our bank accounts to TD instead as i love their hours! We get out cheques from a local print company called print and cheques now. We used to get cheques from the bank through Davis and Henderson but found out we could save money by using someone else.
