My daughter was going down Island so I sent her with some coupons to shop for me.One of the places was London Drugs.I had a small stack of coupons for nice and easy hair color. My daughter found the color I wanted on clearance so see grabbed two and proceeded to the cash only to be told that see could not use the coupons for clearance items! The coupon value was not more than the price so my daughter said that she would like her to call the manager(More guts than me) anyway cashier called the manager and he said no we cannot take the coupons on that clearance item.Cashier told my daughter to go and find different clarol nice and easy color in the hair color section and she could use the coupons.Does this sound right to you?Anyway D/D said don't worry Mom I will go back and try tomorrow!

I have used them on clearance items before!... it shouldn't matter if it's clearance or not the store is getting the $ back from the manufacturer anyhow.
I am a "senior canuck" but have been away from the site for awhile.. Please be patient with me as I go through and re-learn the ins and outs, do's and don'ts once again.
. I look forward to chatting and trading with all of you

I've had cashiers try that line on me too. They try to tell me that that the manufacturer doesn't allow coupons used on clearance...to which I say really? Where does it say that on this coupon? I have used coupons on tons of clearance items and 95% of the time no one ever says a word!
What's even sillier is doesn't London Drugs allow you to stack? So if you had a few coupons with different bar codes you could have gotten a new box for a few cents and that would have been ok with them--but if using a coupon on clearance box they have issues with? WTH?

I have never seen this wording on any coupon: "Cannot be used on clearance items". It's just a classic example of a cashier making up fake rules to prevent you from using it and getting a good deal.

My local SDM is really good about taking coupons for clearance items but I have not had a lot of success elsewhere.

the only coupon i've seen say "save $5 when you buy 2 REGULAR PRICED" products is the stayfree/OB coupon... i think that's the only time they can technically refuse u?
i've used countless coupons on clearance..its the best way to use it!!more discounts!
don't give up like your daughter said!
oh and maybe she should go to the customer service desk..they seem to know a bit more than regular cashiers!
My referral link to ShopperArmy! You and I will both share $5 once you reach $10!

That London Drugs is really dumb. They take multiple coupons for one item which they really shouldn't do.Then won't let you one coupon on one item they are nuts.

Some cashiers can be soo annoying! Like your Daughter said "DO NOT GIVE UP!"
For some reason my computer is underlining this!!! I must have pressed something...
Hey it stopped! Okay... so yah keep trying and you will eventually get a cashier who is not making up rules...

That's just craziness!! I have used many coupons on clearance items! If it doesn't say anything on the coupon then they should take it.
Try another LD or even call another LD and ask the CS or Manager if available. Remember to get their name and if you have a problem you can say who you spoke with. Good Luck!!

I've had this happen at SDM. They even have a sign on the clearance rack that says that coupons cannot be used on these items. I'm not sure what the rules are.

I had that happen to me at an LD too. I was told they don't accept coupons on tag" items. The item in question had been reduced from 3.00 to 75c. However, the CSM was so polite and patient with my gazillions of coupons that I had a very enjoyable shopping experience.

that does not sound fair to me kind of a double standard the let you stack but no coupons for clearance item. I hope that see goes and get the item on clearance with the coupon.
April savings: $74.00
March savings: $55.84
Feb savings: $38.77
Total for 2010: $168.61
