Must be quite recent. I returned something just in the last month (sans receipt) and no problem, got the full amount back on a gift card.

I've never heard of restocking fee (Zellers) before, I just returned something at the Bay with no problem about three weeks ago with receipt. Bay and Zellers are both under HBC, I'm surprised to hear that Zellers is charging restocking fee.

They started this last year, although some stores dont follow the rules some stores follow them to a T. It only apply's to certain items though. And if you return without a receipt they either give you back the last sale price, or the regular retail price less 25% restocking fee. They are getting stickier as well, they wont return goods if they are over 90 days, BUT if its falling apart they will exchange it. If you get stung at one store, take the merchandise and your receipt to another one and try again.

Just bought a LCD TV From Zellers in guelph on Silvercreek. 629.00 plus tx. I asked about the return policy before I bought it. Later, I was very Surprised to learn there was a restocking 15 percent restocking fee to return it. Zellers didn't mention that. The store manager would not budge at all on it. I will never purchase anything from a store that just wants to hang on to your money. I'm done with Zellers.

They started it in December.
It doesn't apply to all departments, it does apply to electronics.
But my understanding was its only on returns that don't have receipts.

Glad to know that. I will make sure that I won't buy anything like electronics from zellers. It sure would make me disgusted if I tried to return something and they took off a 25% restocking fee!!!

I just returned from Zellers in Richmond after going to Burnaby yesterday where I got 40% off yellow tickets. Richmond told me no more 40% off yellow tickets. Yellow ticket is the final price. So I will not be going to the Richmond Zellers anymore until they reverse that decision. I will be firing off a complaint letter to them about the fact 2 stores 2 policys, etc. They are a national chain and should have a national code.

It's not all Zellers that have a % off yellow stickers...and also it's not all the time unless it's advertised as being so. I would be surprised if it were all stores across Canada that would apply, say, 40% to all yellow stickered items. Just last week I was in Zellers looking at baby shoes and some were on clearance. They had big signs that said "Extra 50% off yellow ticketed shoes", so I made sure to ask the lady working in shoes and she said it didn't apply to kids...but then I showed her the signs that were posted all over the shoe dept and clearly stated ALL shoes....goes to show different management at each store can decide when and where they will have their final clearance sale...

Zellers is a store that's all over the place, so it doesn't surprise me that some apply the restocking fee and others don't. Is that information listed on the back of a Zellers receipt?
