TORONTO - A 48-year-old single mother of two is now the leader of the pack after winning the title of Miss Cougar Canada.
Alison Brown, owner of the online art gallery — lisabrowngallery.com — and a personal trainer in Toronto, beat out several other contestants Friday at the pageant held at Tattoo Rock Parlour, where the first annual Canadian Cougar Convention was being held. It’s American counterpart has been on the prowl since 2008.

“It’s interesting,” she said of her new title. “I told my 16-year-old son about it. He laughed.”

Brown said she never started out with the intention of joining the competition, adding, “it was completely off the cuff.”

She was eating dinner when a friend told her about what was going on at the convention, so she decided to check things out.
The key to winning was convincing the young men at the event to hand over coins — their vote for a contestant.

The outgoing Brown, who has worked as a cocktail waitress in the past, said she found it “pretty easy” to walk up to tables to chat and request coins.

She ended up with 48 of them. Along with the bragging rights, Brown gets to attend International Cougar Week in Jamaica next year and a spot on The International Cougar Cruise in December.
