Can anyone recommend a restaurant close to the Canon Theatre? Not too sure what's around there that's good.

Were you going for lunch today or dinner before an evening show? If it's not too late for you, I would also recommend Spadina Garden on Dundas (north side, just past Bay), a 5 minute walk from the Theatre. This is where we usually end up on Theatre nights, except of course when we are on King street, like this Friday!

Col. Williams to get two concurrent life sentences with no parole for 25 years

Col. Russell Williams is being sentenced to two concurrent life sentences with no possibility of parole for 25 years. That sentence is automatic, with the judge presiding over the once decorated colonel's gruesome case to determine jail time for Williams' sex assaults and fetish break-ins.


I just don't understand our justice system.

a) wouldn't consecutive have been more appropriate than concurrent?

b) Life? I think not. If you are elgibile for parole, by definition, it is not LIFE. Granted, he may be denied parole each and every time he is eligible for it, but the fact that he is even eligible for parole bothers me severely. (And it ain't LIFE!)

Concurrent sentencing pisses me off. It's like giving the criminal a bonus for every person they kill after the first.

Wicked is a great show! Saw it here a few years ago after seeing it on Broadway and enjoyed both showings. The stage was bigger on Broadway and we enjoyed that better, but a subway token or parking is cheaper than going to NY.

If you don't know the plot, it will give you a whole different perspective on the Wizard of OZ and who was really the bad witch!

Back from the afternoon matinee, gotta love student groups. Actors were sweet & came out to talk to the kids. A kid asked whether they were drinking real beer. One actor whispered, "Beer's not enough to get us through a noon matinee."

If you like pub kind of food, the Hard Rock is good (I always go for the pulled pork sandwich). Unfortunately, you can't tease the Q DJs anymore. Not that I ever did that.

3 Brewers is ok, I wasn't that impressed with their burger, but my friend liked their pasta.

There's also Red Lobster in the Atrium, if you are as obsessed with cheese buns as I am.
