My first job. Age 6 or 7. Don't remember for sure and don't care to. Polishing the hardwood floors after my mother waxed them. Co-workers, my brothers and sisters. Pay, a good swift kick in the a$$ if we took too long or did not do a good enough job. Where were the unions when you really needed them?

From what I remember, he just said that any faith based school that accepts money from the government would have to be required to maintain minimum requirement standards that the government outlines (math, reading, writing, etc). To me, that doesn't sound all to unreasonable. If these schools didn't want to accept these standards, then don't accept the money.
I think Tory's problem was that Dalton had better spin people. Dalton's campaign began crying murder when Tory came out with that plan. My opinion of Tory's down fall was when he back tracked on this topic. He should have kept forging ahead and made his plan better understood.

I too am experiencing challenges with the Q site...It would open the page finally with an error that they reported to admin...
We've been spoiled with our high speed service and an extra minute seems like we are back in the dial up era. - 10 or so years ago...
How quickly we've put that out of our minds....
A buddy of mine in California is still on dial-up as are a good many others south of the border... USA...apparently much less costly than high speed; that is if you have all the time in the world to waste!
I did have my suspicions every time I receive an email from him and there is a note - please be patient may take some time to download!!!!
No Thanks! Not for me!

This would be a good place for the "kids" to hide 5 or six of their ipods.

[QUOTE=electric_viking;2133943]Dalton McGuinty.
Here is what our premier has done for Ontario in the past seven years!!!!!!
And now we will have our S.M.A.R.T. meters that we will have to pay rent on and do our laundry in the middle of the night and we are going to pay big time for air conditioning from now on because when we need it the most that will be prime time. As if it costs any more to produce hydro at two in the afternoon or ten at night another tax grab.
Of course, the smart meters is not a question of cost but a question of capacity. With all the buildings downtown using electricity for lights, AC, and computers, the province can't generate enough electricity. I installed a programmable thermostat, and I let the temperature rise during the day, and cool it back down starting around 9pm.

What really bothers me with the HST is that several items that are not subject to GST but were subject to PST will still be subject to an 8% tax. WTF? So we're paying 8% more on a bunch of stuff, and where we could save we won't? We're supposed to rely on manufacturers to reduce their prices from the savings they will make with HST? Yeah, right!
LCBO said they will raise the prices of all items to offset the reduction in taxes. Would have been nice to get our booze cheaper. Property insurance will still be subject to 8% tax. Those are two I am aware of.

.... and by time shifting laundry, etc. you will only be partially offsetting the hst impact. you'll still end up paying more for hydro. how are you supposed to save hydro by line drying laundry when you're doing wash at night? leave it in the machine until morning? ewww!

And that assumes you don't live in an area where by-laws prohibit clothes lines!!
Let's think about that one for a bit ..... government tells us to do everything we can to go green; government doesn't let us go green. Hmmmmmm.
I got around that one by putting what I could on hangers and hanging them on the limbs of my huge maple that's just off the deck in the backyard. Have trimmed it so the branches don't interfere when you're on the deck, but you can still reach out with no strenuous reaching (even if one is only 5'2"). I've even clothespinned bed linen to multiple hangers and dried them there. Neighbours used to think I was nuts. Now both sides are doing much the same - one in her gazebo, the other right off the deck!!Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.
