[QUOTE=rockit;2025947]Ya Rusty took two nasty flips that year. Worst wreck I ever seen was Earhardt at Talladega. Ward Burton says afterwards "Ya, I guess I caused an accident"

Looking back at some of the bad spills Dale took over the years, if you look at the reply of the crash that took his life, it seemed not so bad. I still have that race taped but haven't had the guts to watch it again. Even though I was a Rusty fan, I loved watching "The Intimidator" race. Miss him much!!!

The crash was so innocent looking but when they showed Kenny Schrader at his car calling for Emergency workers I knew it wasn't good.
I used to tape the races also and I have not watched that race again. Whenever they play the crash on TV I turn the channel.

What is it about that crash that makes it the worst one you've ever seen? Ironically, when Big E died is the worst crash we've ever seen. I remember watching that race with my big brother and when it first happened he said "He should be OK." It really did not look like such a bad crash. Little did we know...

Johnson said he was trying to slide in front of Gordon late in Sunday's race so the two Hendrick Motorsports drivers could draft together toward the front. But, he said Gordon was coming too fast. Johnson's move instead had the effect of a block, and Gordon was forced off the apron in a defensive move. His momentum gone, Gordon slide back in traffic and was caught moments later in a multi-car crash. "I misjudged the closing rate," Johnson said. "We all make mistakes, I am no different. Certainly, that was my fault. I made the mistake there." Gordon, who drove his damaged car to a 22nd-place finish, was furious with his teammate after the race. "The 48 is testing my patience, I can tell you that," Gordon said Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. "It takes a lot to make me mad." Johnson was involved in his own accident later and finished 31st. Johnson had already left the track when Gordon, also a four-time series champion, talked of his frustration with his teammate. "I would have stuck around if I knew what was waiting for me," Johnson said. But Johnson again dismissed any notion of a rift with Gordon. The two tangled a week ago at Texas Motor Speedway, but downplayed any potential tensions. "There's no doubt after the fact that frustrations are high, the wreck just compounded it," Johnson said. "I think he was speaking out of frustration.
I might have to watch it again, but it sure looked to me like Jimmie was trying to block Jeff.

Speaking of Ward Burton, man I miss him, just for the entertainment value of his voice alone. I still can't figure out why he and Jeff have such different accents. They were raised together, weren't they?

Have you heard Jeff's crew chief talk? I'm sure Jeff Burton is the only driver who can understand him!

I've always thought this was a pretty bad crash since Elliott lands on his roof, flips up onto the banking and rolls several times, with parts and pieces flying everywhere and probably into the car:

This one looked bad at the time since he slammed backwards and on the driver's side:

I always thought this one was bad since Kenny hit backwards, then flipped, then caught fire:

On Monday evening I saw a nice looking red car in the parking lot (either in Eastway Chrysler or the Sport Cafe) on Eglinton Avenue with the plate

    "NASCR FRK".

    Belong to anyone here?
Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

It was the distance he traveled down the track, being hit and bounced all over the place while wrecking. There have been others for sure. I remember practice at Michigan a few years back, Elliot Sadler blew a tire and just started bouncing and flipping down the front straight-way. That was scary also. Another one was Steve Grissom at Atlanta. The impact here was huge.

Makes you wonder if the milkman stopped in for a visit?

Nope, but I can confirm that my license plate is - NASCARFN
I find it weird when I take it to a 'garage' and the mechanics don't get it... must be Open Wheel fans I guess!

Ever since when my dad hears Elliott's name he says "that the guy who always wrecks" "That guy's always on his roof" Elliott has had some doozies too!

The driver side impact is always scary. That's what happened to Kenny Irwin and Adam Petty.
