Holy smoke! I just about dropped my sandwich when I found this coupon in this week's edition of the Westender (Aug.6-12, '09). Not only do you get 7X Airmiles everyday on prescriptions filled at Safeway Pharmacy but with this coupon:

"300 Bonus Airmiles with a NEW prescription or a prescription transferred to the Safeway Pharmacy on Robson Street from any non-Safeway pharmacy."

Expires August 31, 2009. I thought maybe it was a typo but it seems pretty clear. They had previously put out 100 bonus Airmiles coupons to drum up some business for the pharmacy in their new store and I took full advantage of them, several times. For anyone like me who gets a lot of prescriptions this is sweet! You can redeem 325 Airmiles for a $50 car rental gift certificate, or 400 Airmiles for a $50 HBC giftcard so a 300 Airmiles coupon is pretty good!

Look on page 9 in this weeks Westender.

    ***UPDATE!!!***

There's another BIG Airmiles coupon in the West Ender (Aug.13-19 edition) on page 8. Again:

"300 Bonus Airmiles with a NEW prescription or a prescription transferred to the Safeway Pharmacy on Robson Street from any non-Safeway pharmacy."

This one expires September 30, 2009. Another month to plan your prescription filling. As usual, you also get 7 X Airmiles everyday on your prescriptions at Safeway Pharmacy. Clip and save a couple for yourself or someone else. You never know what might come up!

I've been able to take advantage of this coupon four different times now for a total of 1200 Airmiles, which I can redeem for $150 worth of HBC giftcards. I'm a high maintenance patient but this is my little bonus.

And on it goes... the coupon is in the Sept. 17-23 (2009) edition again. Page 19. Expires Oct. 31, 2009.

Just a note for those that might not be familiar with the West Ender paper who might be looking for it... it doesn't say West Ender on the front page. Just WE. You can find it on a lot of street corners downtown.

Bump. Maybe this coupon is going to go on forever.

Again in this week's West Ender (Sept. 24-30). Page 6. Expires Oct. 31, 2009.

Also, lots of other coupons for 2 for 1 dining on those pages. Kam's is my favourite.

I got in on the Robson Safeway 300 Airmiles offer also. They have another offer posted outside the store, which states, spend 40 dollars and receive 50 airmiles.Good until Dec I believe. How do use the coupon 4 times when it states new prescriptions only or a transfered one.I always wait for a store to offer something special so I can take advantage.I just got 5000 shoppers points for a script at the new shoppers on 16th and cambie yesterday.I have gone to different stores just for the freebies.I also got a ten dollar store card at save-on foods because I used there pharmacy.

    Good morning!

I avoid having refills done on the phone between the pharmacy and my doctor's office. When I'm getting more of a same old medication I get it on paper and if possible with not too many refills to be kept on file. It's when you have that prescription on paper that it's "new" and you could take it to any pharmacy so your reward for taking it in to Safeway pharmacy is the Airmiles. And I've never seen a bigger Airmiles coupon or deal than this one. I just did my fifth coupon yesterday. I have serious health problems but my reward is Airmiles!

There's a couple of threads on smartcanucks that discuss Safeway Airmiles deals and Shoppers Optimum points for prescriptions:

    ----------------

    http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/103714-...sdm-gc-canada/

    http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/23424-s...-deals-canada/

    ----------------

On the first thread jojosnkelowna talks about getting a whack of points for her prescriptions at Shoppers Drugmart and it's not too bad. Notice that she buys a Shoppers Drugmart giftcard first, in order to get regular points, and then pays for her prescription with the SDM giftcard.

Keep in mind that you can get a $50 HBC giftcard for 400 Airmiles, so 300 Airmiles could be seen to be worth $37.50. By my calculations, the maximum value of your 5000 Shoppers Optimum points (if you redeem 75,000 on a bonus redemption day AND get 10,000 points back by being a Shoppers Optimum PLUS member) is about $13.08, and when you redeem points for free stuff at SDM you still have to pay the taxes on the stuff. When you have a HBC giftcard you can use that to pay the full bill, including taxes. I use my HBC giftcards at Zellers and work all the deals I can get there.

I haven't digested all of operabob's 82 page thread (dating from Nov. '07) to figure out how he valuates all the Airmiles deals at Safeway but I think it involves a lot of purchasing. None of those deals come close to 300 Airmiles for a single prescription.

Remember, when you have a "new" prescription on paper it's like gold!

    Sad news.

I guess the party's over. No sign in this week's West Ender (Oct 8-14, 2009) of the 300 bonus Airmiles coupon. If you managed to clip a few from the previous issues, they're good to Oct. 31.

I'll keep an eagle eye out for any more and let you know.

I have 3 of these (300 Airmiles) coupons leftover that I won't use. If anyone wants to do a last minute trade, send me a PM. They expire on Sat. Oct. 31 and are good at the Safeway Pharmacy at Robson and Denman only. I'm looking for any kind of food coupon, men's toiletries, or laundry stuff. I live downtown so we could even do a rendezvous for trade if it got down to the wire.

I will continue to keep an eagle eye out for any big points on prescriptions deals, especially the Airmiles at Safeway Pharmacy but nothing yet. I got a big prescription filled yesterday at SDM just because the value of the points there was a little better than Safeway. It spurred me to make my first official brag:

    http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/111959-...a/#post1491127

I have another prescription in hand that can wait a few more weeks so I'll continue to watch out.
