Who here makes their own bath scrub?? A few years ago, I wandered into an Aveda store, and saw that one of their bath scrubs cost almost $50! I figured, if the ingredients were special and different, I wouldn't mind buying. However, I saw that the main ingredients were salt and brown sugar (go figure!).

Since then, I've made my own body scrub that I use every few days ... I use 1 part sea salt, 2 parts brown sugar, a dash of olive oil, fragrance oil, honey and lemon juice.

Share your recipes! I'm interested in trying new ones!

I do its more of a rougher scrub and I use it on my feet or hands
You could make it smoother if you added more sugar and less salt or no salt
Its also a lemon one and for use in the kitchen but I use it in the bathroom too

This website has ways that you could vary the recipe so its not lemony

I rediscovered the wonders of masks and scrubs yesterday.

I used a full-body scrub yesterday made out of granulated sugar, olive oil, and a little bit of lemon juice (a tablespoon or so for the entire body). My skin feels super soft and smooth now!

I also used this "Egyptian Facial Mask" recipe and my dry skin feels absolutely wonderful~ (here's the recipe: http://www.makeyourowncosmetics.com/...145&cat=facial)

@ Julie - yeah!! I have thought of giving these as gifts. Michaels sells a lot of glass containers in various sizes (can't resist them at their 40% off sales!!)

I make my own for the same reason, store bought scrubs can be very expensive. I love an oil olive based scub, with white sugar and nice esstential oils. My skin on my legs is dry when I use soap. I use the home made scrub and its so silky and smooth.

I'm definitely going to give these a try. I've been working on gathering recipes for natural household cleaners, (see my thread on Cheap Household Cleaning) so these scrubs are a logical next step. Thanks so much.

I make my own soap and scented bath salts and lip balms. I like knowing what I am using and my skin does not get dryed out like it used to when I used store bought. I even made a shampoo bar that was so nice. There are alot of wonderful recipes available on the internet and I like trying new ones. I prefer essential oils very seldom use fragrance oils.

I made a hand and foot scrub from the good life eats blogspot using 1 1/2 cups of granulated white sugar, 1/3 cup of kosher salt, 1 cup of olive oil and the zest of 1 orange (you can use lemon zest but I love the smell of oranges). You just mix it all up thoroughly and it makes about a pint. I use about a half teaspoon on my hands, then rinse and it works well.
