Im so happy ! I haven't been couponing for very long but I've already invested in a freezer to be able to stock on deals and save more in the longrun. The best part is that because of couponing I saved enough money to get the freezer without a dent in my budget Im soooo happy, it fit right in its spot and i'm so excited about all the savings this will provide.
Bonus ! I went to the farmers market and bought alot of veggies that im starting to chop and freeze for future cooking. If i do this until the market closes I should have enough veggies for winter cooking and will have to buy a minimum of fresh veggies for salads and dips. (and im a fraidy cat to drive in winter and now with a baby.. eekk !! double bonus )

You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but can I ask how much the freezer cost... or a price range for these types of freezers? I so need one.

you have to use them for cooking afterward, and you let them defrost a bit and you can take the peel off with your hands and then cook. the trick is, cook with the veggies frozen. if they thaw then cook they get nasty. If you want to roast them you put them frozen in the pan (or wok or whatever youre using) and itll make water.. empty the water and then the veggies will roast, same as fresh

and for dinglehopper, it cost me 300$ brand new and i saw the same ones for 360$ and up. There are smaller freezers (which i wanted in the first place) but they are waaaay too little inside. I found it was worth a bit extra money and get the bigger one. The little cube one was like 220$
But I think i will make up the price very quickly with my savings.

That's not bad - I would have thought they were more (but again I have no idea about pricing on freezers). When my condo is built (in like 2012 by the time they finally get around to it) I definitely want to buy one. Just having the freezer above the fridge so doesn't work... not enough space and there are only me and my boyfriend... for a family it definitely wouldn't be enough space to stock up on sales.

I couldn't do anything without my stand up freezer. Every year, my husband and I stack up on farmer's market veggies (organic) and we buy 1/4 cow and/or 1/2 pig. (again, organic and nearby)...

Thanks for sharing your story... Don't you just love smartcanucks?
