I couldn't agree more. Nothing comes before family, family always comes first. I love my family more than I could explain. My parents recently declared bankruptcy and have been having a heck of a time, so I have been giving them lots of stuff, whether it be food and/or health & beauty items. They always feel guilty, but I tell them not to be because I get it for so cheap (thanks to SC!!) and even if I didn't, it wouldn't matter because I would do whatever I could to help them.

I give my family stuff too. Its just plain fun and it helps them out. It also makes them feel better when I tell them I paid next to nothing for it. They said it feels less like charity that way.
WTG Ward. mama on helping out family. You are great.

I've told her about SC...even the coupons. i think the issue is that there is so little money she doesn't know what to do. Her bf has been on disability for years now. She went back to school to be a PSW, passed w/ an above 90% average and is now washing yachts and cleaning apartments. That is their only income (plus she sells clothes on kijiji -- I also gave her 5 large bags of clothes to sell). She needs to pay the rent & bills w/ her money. They have 2 little ones, so they come first. The kids are awesome -- the principal calls and compliments her on how compassionate the oldest one is. Good smart happy kiddos.

Thank you all for your comments.
My sister and I have more often than not been at odds/not seen eye to eye BUT she is my sister. (forgiveness is a gift to yourself everyone). I love her boys, and having them in my life is extremely important. It took me yrs to forgive her... but even when i had not forgiven, I still helped. How can you abandon a person, esp your family, when they need you? Anyway, you are right...you have to help family.
