For those that were at 's last Mississauga SWAP'n'SHOP, you saw my coupon binders, one for food and the other for health and beauty...the one with the outside flap has labels where I keep my flyers for that week in order in their certain section...one binder even has a strap...so it isn't too cumbersome to carry around...it's just like I'm carrying a laptop!...also, inside there are holders for pens/pencils, sticky note pad holder and an inner flap where I keep a copy of:
a) the Walmart coupon policy and
b) SCOP computer print out (just in case)
I saw many ways people have organized their coupons, and I find this the best for me, as I can see everything and don't have to hunt in my accordian style file folder (that ended up having coupons I forgot about or expired coupons that took up space)...
a) I even have round stickers by each coupon to remind me when they expire, which coupon to use first and help me more easily clean out the coupon books...
b) for those that I have extras stored in a box, I use a highlighter to indicated I have extras and
c) if a coupon is only valid at a certain location, I will note it there too
YES...I'M A GEEK and A LITTLE OCD!
Awhile ago (after Back-to-school shopping) I found some great finds at RCSS...the above binders were $0.94...I think I went crazy and bought like 6-8!...tabs were $0.25, the fancy Oxford tabs (which I really like) I found at Dollarama for $1...I find the Ultra PRO (with silver hologram stickers on the top left side) are the best to use!...they keep the coupons snug and don't fall out as much as others...it can be found at WM/Zellers for like $7.99/35 sheets, or Comic Book Stores normally $0.25/sheet...I got mine at a Comic Store in Bramalea City Centre for $5.99/30 sheets.
My god-daughter recently moved to Canada, I explained to her about couponing and have gone shopping with her when she visits...and she's been hooked ever since!...and realizes how much more she can save esp on things she uses everyday...she saw my book and liked it...she admitted she didn't really know I was that OCD!...so I made her one!
My brother's GF recently lost her job, I tried to help by explaining couponing, PMing, looking at flyers to see what's on sale (they would eat out alot and buy alot of stuff at our "overpriced" convience store in the building)...I have to admit, I was a bit frustrated in the beginning, as I gave them GREAT coupons and literally, "the dog ate them!"
...my brother is amazed how much they saved in just one week! (ie. they bought 10 Pizza's PM'd with NF @ WM and used coupons)...they are both on board to coupon and PM...I was going to make them this binder as part of their x'mas gift...but I think they reallllllllllly need it now!
So this is what I will be doing today!

Loved your post!

I've got 2 binders now, one for coupons and one for everything else related to shopping, coupon trades, etc.
Looks like your family is really getting on board, and the "training process" is going well!
Have you noticed how everybody who doesn't coupon, has to be guided and supported through the various stages, before they "get it", and "do it"?

OK it will be two weeks on Saturday since I've joined SC and I believe 4 days into it
I bought 3 binders, 1 for coups for myself, 1 for non-food trading, 1 for food trading. I got them all at the dollar store, they come with 20 of those see-through sheet thingies.

Great job MaricrisMas! I actually started doing that the other day also. I stole a used zip up binder that my daughter doesn't use anymore. I do think that I need another one though. I also picked up the hockey card holders at Dollarama, I think it had 8 sheet for $1. I do find that the coupons at the top could slide out if I am not careful. I also picked up the 1 sheet plastic covers. I just add extras in there that I have. I also went to WM and grabed the plastic photo covers, I find these work well for larger coupons too. I am so glad I did this, it really helps to organize the coupons.
Great post, thanks.

Great job - I have a coupon binder, too, but I think I need to start another one ... I have way too many coupies stuffed into that poor thing! LOL
(and I think ALL couponers are a little OCD - how else would we sit still to sort everything?!?!) LOLLast edited by Kaldirris; Thu, Nov 12th, 2009 at 05:08 PM.

Bought 5 or 6 of those .94 zippered binders last week. Was so excited. Gotta get my sister started immediately.

Two weeks ago I converted over to the zipper binders but I couldn't find any other than at Grand & Toy so they were definitely NOT $.94
I'm still ok with how much I paid for them because they are fabulous and fit SO much. I started with one and soon realized I need two
There are a ton of pockets inside too. The bit of money I put into them was well worth it because I won't have to pay towards any other systems; I went from a small little folder to a small accordian file to a bigger one and all of them failed to keep all the coupons in check and organized. I wish I had changed to this system a long time ago

I still use a photo album -but I'm getting frustrated - it needs a major cleaning out every now and then - right now I find I'm throwing out a whole pile of coups that have expired Save.ca somehow picked Nov. 9 to expire a lot of my coupons that I thought went to the end of the month!
But I must say that a gentleman stopped me in SDM the other day and commented about my "organization" - he then brought his wife over to meet me because she tries to save money too and I showed her my system - it resulted in a very nice 15 minute conversation.
I may treat myself to new binders and switch to hockey card pages though - this seems to be much better for certain things! Thanks for the great explanation of how you organize!Last edited by avoncallingu; Thu, Nov 12th, 2009 at 11:28 PM.
