I finally did the SCOP - I picked up 7 more m&ms at Walmart to get the two free movie tickets deal (see here: http://forum.smartcanucks.ca/146563-...h-tops-canada/). The dark m&ms were marked at $2.50 instead of $3.27, so I picked up the last 6 dark ones that were specially marked. I also grabbed one regular that was still $3.27.
Got to the front, of course they rang up at $2.50. I stated that they had been marked at $2.50 so the mgr came over, and dh took her right to the shelf where the price was indicated. When the mgr came back, she gave me all 6 for $2.50 and the 7th was free "for our inconvenience".
So I will get 8 bags of m&ms and 2 movie tickets for: 6X$2.50 = $15 + $3.27 (1st one bought previously) + stamp. Almost $19. Not bad.
Even better, I think dh is starting to get into couponing

That's awesome, chocolates and a movie. I had to pay regular price to the movies a few weeks back and almost died, soo expensive for a family of 4!

so did u realize BEFOREHAND that they were priced wrong to purposely abuse the scop rule? or was it an honest surprise deal?
I understand that they should be making sure their prices are correct but if you purposely made sure they were priced wrong so youd get some for free, i find thats abusing the system.

I don't believe that is "abusing scop"...If I noticed one was mispriced if I used the price-checker and I was buying it anyways, of course I would ask for scop...to insinuate that she is abusing scop is rude...btw, only 1 was mis-priced, not "some"...:
"The dark m&ms were marked at $2.50 instead of $3.27, so I picked up the last 6 dark ones that were specially marked. I also grabbed one regular that was still $3.27. "
If I was buying something for a promotion, and I had the choice between an item on sale or a regular priced item, I would definately buy the discounted ones...I would also point out the pricing error at the til if it rang in wrong too, why wouldn't you? You only get the 1st item free for SCOP, and then the correct the additional items...do you think people would be like "no it's fine, just charge me the regular price, even though they are on sale"...not a chance, and most people would agree...Last edited by Litesandsirens911; Sun, Jul 18th, 2010 at 03:53 PM. litesandsirens had it right. I haven't actually seen a price sticker on anything at Walmart for years, so I had no idea how they would ring up. I assumed at $2.50 like the tag on the shelf indicated. They didn't ring up that way. Actually, they burned me on that when I bought the first two for the cake decorating. That time, I thought I must have picked the wrong ones or misread the tag and didn't say anything. This time, I checked the tag carefully and fully intended to get the others for $2.50 (SCOP or not), because I wanted them anyways for the pouch top/movie ticket deal. I didn't even say SCOP, the manager who went and checked just did it

I also don't really agree that it would be wrong or abusive to SCOP in the situation pointed out, where it was known that the items would ring up incorrectly. The whole point is that consumers should be paying for what the prices are marked. If they aren't, it is the stores responsibility. I don't think consumers should feel bad for this.
I don't even really understand what my rights are when I cry SCOP, other than they are supposed to do "something" - (Pandora's box). I guessed maybe they would give me $0.10 off or something. Maybe someone can tell me what is a retailer supposed to do?
