Zonny,

I'm going through something very similar with my cat. He was nearly 30 lbs, he was extremely obese and he is peeing like all the time, we pour his litter our it's so full of liquid after 2 days. My cat has renal failure and is now about 8lbs. I worked at a vets office while I was in college. Trust me, change the food to wet, your cat is craving water so bad and dry food is bad bad stuff. I changed my cats diet and sure, he is yucky still with the pee, but the food makes an incredible difference. He has already started putting back on weight. I leave the tub dripping water all night because my cat loves being in the tub with the water.

Get protien foods for the cat, with high water content and try this out for a week or two. You will see a huge difference in the cat. You can control the problem at home, the peeing, well, there is nothing you can do about that except, stay away from clumping litter. I made this mistake and my cat peed so much he ended up with concrete boots on his feet.
