Baby J has given me lots of scares... but I'm now used to it.
He's gone several days without eating. He used to bang his head constantly and he used to have a fascination with breaking glass. He'd do all sorts of things that would freak out most parents. It wasn't until we got his diagnosis that we really knew what was going on.

Wow Julie, I can only imagine what you must have felt like before having a diagnosis...God Bless you for being such a patient understanding Mom.
Coolmama, Thanks for your kind words...glad to know that I am not the only Mom who panics...
Anyway, I am just praying that my little munchkin had learned a life lesson and now knows that things should only come out of her nose and not go in...

My daughter had a fall when she was small and the result was a nice goose-egg on her head. Well yes, I rushed her to the doc. I'll never forget his words after he examined her:
"your daughter is not injured, but I think your pride is."

Thankfully we've resolved most of his negative behaviours through his occupational therapy and in the last 6 months he's great to be around now.
I'm pretty sure that your little one will learn from this experience. She may develop a fear of sunflower seeds though, so be sure to re-introduce them as a food sooner rather than later.

Julie, I though so to but my girl has no fear of sunflower seeds...she wanted them today and I said no...she said Oh, dat not faaare. Hee Hee
So we went to the store and bought a bag of the ones that have no shells...compromise, the key to successful parenting...or is the key choose your battles wisely...Hee Hee. either way, I avoided the clash of the 3 year old today.
Anyway, out of curiousity do you go to Children's in TO for your OC, or do they have an Infant Development Program in Ontario too.
We go to BC Children's for my oldest for her scoliosis, and now we are waiting for a refferal to an E.N.T. (Ears, Nose, Throat Specialist.)
Hope that I am not asking too many questions

OH god... three children... 5 years since it all started... yes PLENTY of scares.
I'm glad your little one was ok and you're right about both the compromise and choosing battles. LOL

Biggest scare was when baby was 3 months old she got the flu (RSV, apparently).
Started as a cough, then a stuffy nose. Was going to let it run its course, but then she stopped nursing. Scared the daylights out of us.
It seems that at that age, most babies can barely mouth-breathe, and they don't get enough oxygen even if they do. And, baby didn't know how to blow her nose to clear it. So, with her stuffy nose, the poor thing was forced to choose between nursing and breathing.
Anyways, we went to the family doctor, who sent us to the Emergency Room at the Children's Hospital to get poked and prodded, then baby spent four days on oxygen until the virus passed.
It all seems so minor now, but it was very scary at the time because we didn't know what was happening, and baby was so scared, too.
I admire the courage of all you moms that have gone through much more than I have - hopefully my munchkin will stay healthy and happy from now on.
<runs off to knock on a wooden table, throw salt over my shoulder, etc.>

Thanks ILMK... glad you like my parenting wisdoms...they work don't they... Hee Hee...I think that we all learn these tricks after a while.
Anyway,
Alajen, I give you due credit for your experience...a 3 month old baby with any type of sickness is serious and nothing to take lightly...
The youngest I ever had to bring my kids to the hospital was at one year.
It was my youngest, she had her MMR and Chicken pox vaccinations...
She got horribly fevered about 2 weeks after them...
I brought her to emergency with a sudden fever of 104, and I was a mess.
The doctor did a blood test to find out if it was a bacterial infection or viral, ruled out bacterial and sent us home with a baby who has a temperature of 103 degrees and said that she would develop a rash, and within a couple of days she would be fine which she was...
He never did answer whether he thought this was a reaction from the vaccinations either.
I tell you that was scarey enough, thank goodness I have never had to see either of my kids on a respirator, or spend a night in a hospital...
Now I am the one to knock on wood and go throw some salt...
