this recipe, Pumpkin cupcakes with Maple & Bacon icing, from this month's Chatelaine is for you!

I made them this afternoon mostly out of curiousity because I see a lot of chefs on the Food Network, such as Iron Chef Michael Symon and Chris Cosentino, both bacon lovers, use bacon in baking and sweets, and thought I'd give it a try...

Here is a pic of my creations:

As for the taste, the cupcake part is more like a muffin then a cupcake texture, but the icing is very sweet with a bit of salty bacon to balance it out, and I must say, they are very tasty!

I would definitely make them again

oooo those look good. I have been pondering making some type of dessert with bacon. Some of those things I've seen on the food network look pretty darn good lol. Bf has been bugging me to make bacon cupcakes (he once made me put bacon in hummus lol. I did it to try and prove to him that you CANNOT put bacon in/on everything. Turns out it was pretty good lol). I LOVE pumpkin and have a craving for something pumpkiny and have also been curious about this bacon with sweets phenomenon so I just might give these a shot!
