Zellers Coupon Policy-see 3 different responses to 3 different questions

Because of a thread...I decided to write Zeller's/HBC in regards to their COUPON POLICY (like I was three different customers, used three different email addy's and names)...in regards to:

1. Price Matching and using coupons (YES) – refer to LETTER #1 BELOW
"...Yes, you can use coupons that price matched products..."

2. Coupon more than the item purchased (NO...but see more of the response below) – refer to LETTER #2 BELOW
"...that they contain a barcode and the terms and conditions are fully legible. The value of the
coupon must not exceed the current retail price of the item(s) being purchased. If the coupon states that it is only one per purchase, then you may only use one coupon per purchase. If the coupon indicates, one per item, then you may use more than one coupon per purchase but only
one per item..."


3. Using SPC Card and Coupons (NO)...it’s hit and miss...if this can be done depending on location (Square One is pretty strict about no SPC and coupons) – refer to LETTER #3 BELOW

Thank you for your email of September 17th, 2010 and your inquiry about
price matching and coupon policy.

Yes, you can use coupons that price matched products.

Zeller's Manufacturer's Coupon Policy:

Zeller's will accept manufacturer's coupons provided that they contain a
barcode and the terms and conditions are fully legible. The value of the
coupon must not exceed the current retail price of the item(s) being
purchased. If the coupon states that it is only one per purchase, then
you may only use one coupon per purchase. If the coupon indicates, one
per item, then you may use more than one coupon per purchase but only
one per item.

We will also accept on-line manufacturer's coupons but only those from
the vendor's website.

Our price match guarantee is as follows:

" If you find a lower, current local Canadian retail store advertised
price on any item Zellers has in stock, bring in the ad and we'll gladly
match their price! The comparison item must be identical to the Zellers
item and not be in limited quantities at the competitor's store. "

Please be assured that the store is continuing to place emphasis and

Thank you for your e-mail of September 17th, 2010 and your inquiry about
getting additional 10% discount by using SPC card while price match with
a competitor or using a coupon.

Unfortunately, multiple discounts cannot be applied to one purchase. As
stated under the terms and conditions of the SPC card "this offer cannot
be combined with any other discount offer"

Therefore you cannot combine an SPC discount with any other promotional
discounts being offered at that time.

Just last night I did PM to WM, SPC, and coupons. I paid $2.90 (including tax) for 2 Olay bw, 4 Secret deo, and 4 Voortman cookies. This Zellers was at Bramalea City Centre location, believe it or not, which is atrocious for PM and coupons.

That is my local Zellers too and I always get hassled there when trying to use coupons or PM. I also used to work at that location, oh so many years ago when they turned it from Eatons into Zellers and if the manager is the same, they are trained to scrutinize each coupon and flyer, almost to find a reason not to take it, even if valid.

I tried using the $1 off Vim coupon at Zellars when it was on sale for $1 and they wouldn't take the coupon. I heard that at other Zellars locations they did take the coupon. It seems like each store likes to set its own rules.

Each store manager could decide what to accept, and if you got such a good deal, then that s to the cashier and you will get rejections.

Well if it's
"One per purchase" implies that you may use one Zellers coupon per transaction
then i suggest if you are using cash..stand in line and purchase one thing at a time!! If everyone does then maybe they will realize that this is stupid. If you have 5 $1 off coupons for Vim then you should be able to buy 5 Vim and use all 5 coupons. The two differences this makes is that it won't hold the line up and will save a lot of paper from the wasted receipts!! There is no difference in price. These people are so stupid. Most jobs you need a grade 12 to get in the door these days, but you'd never know it!!!

I'm not sure what terms and conditions I'm missing. I have the SPC partners info sheet that came with the card and a printout of the exclusions for Zellers and none of them say anything about not being able to combine it with another discount offer. In fact, both say that the discount applies to both regular AND sale items. I would understand if Zellers wanted to discontinue offering the discount on sale items since they are losing money on both the sale and the discount but they specifically say that sales are included. Not allowing it to be combined with coupons would just be counterproductive for Zellers since the money for the coupon comes from the manufacturer and not from Zellers itself.

For SPC you have to show your spc before coupons so you can get 10% off if they use coupons before you show spc then it wont work
