So I have been hearing of all of you who are doing donation baskets to local shelters. I Love this idea and would love to do this, but I need some help. Is there anyone in winnipeg that would like to contribute with me? So far I have about 20 secret deodorants, and 20 st.Ives Facial scrubs, some toothbrushes, not sure what else I could add, depends on where I donate to I guess. I havent looked up any places either. My husbands work always does a christmas hamper also, so some will go towards that also. I have some snuggle and hunts canned tomatoes too, but that might not work for the shelters, but it will work for hampers, really if anyone is interested please let me know, I would love the help. Thanks!

If you are gearing your donation towards women, the NorthEnd Women's Centre is currently looking for donations of self care items and many other things too. If you go to http://www.newcentre.org/MakeADonation.htm you can see what is of urgent need. This is a reputable agency and they do very good work.
I am currently working on shelter hampers too for women and am almost finished, some thing I have in my hampers too are feminine hygiene products. Superstore has Stayfree pads on for $1.99 each and there is a printable coupon for $2.00 on the coupon page here. (http://coupons.smartcanucks.ca/get/c...stayfree-2684/) There is a limit of 6 but I went in a couple of times.
If you are wanting to talk more, send me a pm and we can chat.
Have fun with your donations and keep up the good work!!!Last edited by DanesMom; Thu, Sep 23rd, 2010 at 11:10 AM. Reason: adding link for coupon

I missed that SS store sale too bad!! We are doing back packs for the main street shelter, they are given out around Christmas..we put in personalgrooming items, playing cards, silver foil emergency blankets,a little flashlight..things like that. This had been DH's Christmas project for a few years now, this year will be even better now that I am a SC'er! PM me if you want to do this one too.. I am also doing a hamper for two young teen girls who are being raised by their 82 year old Grandmother(sad, crazy story)they wear Ladies M and L if anyone has any funky gently used clothing, purses, girly things to donate...

I actually donate quite often. I know that Revenue Canada has boxes in their buildings so that employees can drop off items. The best things to donate are those little shampoo bottles, soaps, etc that you get in hotel room. Anyhow, if it helps, here is a list of stuff that Osborne House recommends.
This list can also be found here:
