Yes you really do get points when you buy Shoppers gift cards and when you spend them.

I have read the fine print that each Optimum account will only get awarded 500 bonus points no matter how many of those Top 10 Gifts are purchased. We won't know until January 8th I guess, but don't get sucked in too easily.

Well I just went yeaterday and bought $100 in gift cards for the DD for christmas. I talked her into the SDM GC. LOL She wants to buy a DSI and they sell them there for the same price as other places. So when she gets the rest of her Christmas money I am going to get her to buy more GC's to get the points and then she can get her DSI.

I always save my FPC for SDM 20X events, and other large value coupons (like the $5 off Motrin) It adds up in a real hurry.
I built up a lot of points when they had the Esso gift card offer (I got HBC and Sears gift cards from Esso!)
I did all of my X-mas shopping at SDM during the $200 REDEMPTION day (redemed $1200 worth- and I've just been a member for a little over a year with one previous redemption of $300)

If you called MC/ MBNA, no they don't seem to know. You need to call SDM Optimum. If they still say it doesn't exist, ask to speak to a supervisor. Have the red gift catalog with the offer in front of you.

Hmm I guess I didn't read it in the fine print (just re-read that gifts catalog), I thought I did, sorry about that. I called 1-800-SHOPPERs today to get some clarification on this offer. The agent confirmed with her manager that it would be ONE 500 bonus points (regardless of how many top 10 gifts we purchase). I know that the fine print doesn't say "one time only". The bonus points are supposed to show up on the MC statement.

Because from the sound of it, a lot of the customer service reps really didn't know about it, or evaded answering the question.

I did call optimum and I asked him three times to find me someone there that does know about it. He was very rude to me. I am thinking about calling back and complaining about how he handled the call.

i am not sure, but I always seem to have get rung in as 2001 or whatever and always have to pay tax on fpcs.

I got PLUS status! Frankly I don't really care, and can't believe I spent that much at SDM this year, but whatever.
