Penny Lane Koothrappali - Killer Whale Eats Dog?
Pet Name:
Meet Penny Lane Koothrappali - named after a Beatles Song ("Penny Lane") and 2 of the characters from the TV show the Big Bang Theory.
Relationship: Doting mother. Provider of food, treats, and endless belly rubs.
Story:
Penny's life started as a tough one. When she was only about 4 months old, her and her brothers & sisters were locked in a small kennel in the middle of January (a January in Winnipeg, no less) and left for the garbage workers to pick up and dispose of. Luckily, a neighbor spotted the kennel and brought them to the Humane Society where their dedicated staff nursed the puppies back to health. With a mug like that, it took all of 3 seconds for her to win our hearts and a place in our home. As you can see, at the age of 1, she's now a rambunctious addition to our family, and one scary killer whaler (Penny's 1st Halloween).
If you'd like to see a picture of Penny as a little pup and the news story about her rescue, please feel free to click the following: http://www.winnipegdogs.com/2010/01/...rden-city.html. There's also a link to the CTV newscast about it there (under CTV's Jan 6/10 archives).
Good luck to all other contestants!

Dinglehopper Sleepin' in Style
Name of Picture: Gonna Sleep in Style
Relationship: I am the proud 'mommy' to this 5 year old Pomeranian.
Pet's Name: Dinglehopper
Story: Dinglehopper was born in a puppy mill in Missouri, purchased by a puppy broker and then re-sold to a pet store here in Canada. He has been through a lot of health/medical challenges in his 5 years - ranging from 3 surgeries for Luxating Patellas (dislocating kneecaps) to a diagnosis of Progressive Retinal Atrophy that is robbing him of his eyesight. Despite all of his health challenges he has a delightful personality remains happy. The Ferrari dog bed in this picture did not belong to Dinglehopper, but rather his 'brother' Pickles (a pug/bulldog mix). Pickles is destructive and likes to wreck things. When Dingle saw Pickles trying to wreck his brand new bed the same day he got it Dinglehopper was not impressed and decided to adopt the Ferrari bed as his own. (Note: Dinglehopper looks a little 'off' in this picture as he was dealing with yet another health challenge and had just come home from the vet and was medicated)
